passengers died before their bodies were put into the sea.0:17That brings the voyage's reported toll to at least seven.0:21What happened during the crossing, and how are the one hundred and thirty-two0:25survivors?0:25Rescuers reached the boat early Monday, November2nd, about fifty kilometers0:30northeast of Uresfi on Lanzarote.0:33That's about ninety-four miles offshore.0:36The Gardamar Urania then brought the survivors and the two bodies to Arasifi.0:40The five other bodies haven't been recovered.0:43Survivors told rescuers those passengers had died during the journey.0:47We don't know when during the crossing the deaths happened, so the Monday rescue0:51date doesn't tell us when they died.0:53The reported voyage total is one hundred and nine people.0:57That fits the one hundred and thirty-two survivors, two recovered bodies and five1:02further deaths described by passengers.1:04Rescuers brought one hundred and thirty-two people ashore alive.1:08The larger figure includes those reported to have died.1:11A storm was reported during the crossing, but nobody has confirmed what caused the1:16deaths.1:17Survivors said the five passengers were already dead when their bodies went into the1:21sea.1:21The circumstances of how that happened are still unclear.1:25Six other boats also received help that Monday around Lanzarote and El Hero.1:30Spain's Maritime Rescue Service, Salvamento Maritimo, coordinated the operations1:36through its centers in Las Palmas and Tenerife.1:39The detailed breakdown counts the people brought to each port.1:42The Gardamar Urania rescued one hundred and thirty-two survivors.1:47The Salvamar Alnaire rescued thirty-five people from one boat and thirty-six from1:52another.1:53The Salvamar Akrux rescued fifty-nine.1:56Together, those four boats brought two hundred sixty-two surviving passengers to2:02Arasifi.2:03The two recovered bodies were brought to port separately from that survivor count.2:07The seven reported deaths belong to the Gardamar Urania's rescue.2:12They shouldn't be spread across the other boats involved in the day's operations.2:16The Salvamar Navia escorted two boats to La Restinga, carrying ninety people and2:21nineteen.2:22The Salvamar Difta escorted another carrying thirty.2:26Those three boats brought thirty-nine people to the port on El Yero.2:29A lower total of one hundred twenty-nine also circulated for El Hero, but the listed2:34boat counts add up to one thirty-nine, combined with Arisifa's two hundred and2:39sixty-two.2:40The detailed operations total four hundred and one survivors across seven boats.2:45Of those survivors, two hundred and sixty-nine travelled on the other six boats.2:49An earlier Monday tally counted another two hundred and fifty people rescued beyond2:53the fatal voyages, one hundred and thirty-two survivors that made three hundred and2:58sixty survivors that made thirty eighty-two.3:01The fuller daily breakdown reaches four hundred and one and includes those earlier3:05rescues.3:06Adding the two totals together.3:08Would count people twice.3:09The detailed count of four hundred and one survivors replaces the earlier tally of3:14three hundred and eighty-two.3:16Nobody has explained exactly which passengers account for the difference.3:21Another one hundred and seven people were reported rescued off El Hero on Sunday,3:25November first,3:26outside Monday's total.3:28The wider Atlantic route brings people from West Africa towards Spain's Canary3:32Islands through rough seas and strong currents.3:36Arrivals often rise in autumn as sea conditions improve.3:39Crossings jumped in October, even though the year's arrivals were below the same3:44period in2025 .3:45The Spanish government's representative in the islands put arrivals at eleven3:50thousand five hundred and twenty-seven down eighteen percent year on year.3:54The renewed crossings put pressure on emergency services, especially on smaller3:59islands.4:00Those regional figures don't tell us where this particular boat departed.4:04Canary Islands President Fernando Clavijo Battle.4:08Said the Atlantic route was once again claiming lives.4:12He called for more resources and preparation, and accused Spain's government of4:17leaving the islands without the response they needed.4:20For this crossing, one hundred thirty-two people reached port alive.4:25Their condition hasn't been confirmed, and there's no reliable hospital transfer or4:30injury count.4:31Two passengers' bodies were recovered.4:34The five further deaths remain based on survivors' accounts, and the cause of the4:38deaths is still unknown.Explorar con HeyDexSeguir por RSS
