CARGANDO0:07A drone found two underground hotspots in a fire cruise had believed was out.0:12Firefighters put out more hotspots and planned to monitor the burned ground through0:17the week.0:17On November2, we reported that crews believed the fire was out Sunday evening, with0:22a drone check still planned.0:24Whether the ground is now completely cold remains unresolved.0:28The fire burned woods and brush near Barrie Range and Old Shaker Roads in Loudoun,0:33New Hampshire.0:34Firefighters returned Monday with rangers from the state's Forest Protection Bureau0:39to search for remaining heat that could allow the fire to reignite.0:43Officials estimated that at least ten acres burned over the weekend.0:47Another estimate put the area at around ten a.0:51Those estimates update the nearly ten acres described earlier.0:55The new discovery was residual burning inside the affected area, with no renewed1:00spread reported.1:01Firefighters used an infrared equipped drone to search for heat.1:06Monday.1:07November two, the scan found two hot spots smoldering underground.1:12Crews worked to extinguish leftover burning, even after the surface had appeared1:18quiet the previous evening.1:20Crews had brought the blaze under control Sunday afternoon and left the scene.1:25By Sunday evening, Chief Thomas Blanchett saw no visible smoke and believed it was1:31completely out.1:32Monday's heat search showed that burning had continued beneath the surface.1:37Our November two broadcast left the drone inspection as the next step.1:42That inspection has now happened.1:44It found underground fire, and firefighters put out additional hot spots Monday.1:49The absence of visible smoke Sunday hadn't meant every burning route was cold.1:53Firefighters had already spent hours digging for this fire.1:57They first responded Saturday evening, October thirty-one th.2:01worked into the early hours of Sunday, and returned later that morning.2:06Flames reached about two feet high.2:08While the fire crept slowly through material on and beneath the ground, the affected2:13ground included an area logged a couple of years earlier.2:17Logging debris, dead stumps, and roots gave crews difficult material to reach.2:22Firefighters dug underground and used specialized tools to cut through roots and2:27burning tree debris.2:29The fire began in a marshy area, which Blanchett described as unusual.2:33Crews couldn't determine what ignited it.2:36Finding heat underground explains why firefighters needed to keep working there, but2:41it doesn't explain the original ignition.2:44Lodon Fire Chief Thomas Blanchett said staffing was an issue.2:48He said assembling forty-five firefighters took about four hours.2:52That measures the time needed to gather that force.2:55Crews had already begun responding Saturday evening.2:58Blanchett's updated total is forty-five, compared with the earlier figure of just3:02shy of forty.3:04He had said the holiday and weekend complicated mobilization.3:07Several departments and state forestry personnel supplied people and equipment.3:12Concord and Belmont firefighters covered Loudoun's other active calls, while crews3:17fought the woods fire.3:18The Loudoun Fire Department said nobody was injured, and no buildings were damaged.3:23Its November2 announcement also describes staffing and weather as challenges.3:29Those findings add the injury and damage information that wasn't available when we3:34previously covered the fire.3:35Dry ground made the work harder.3:38Blanchette said there was no moisture in the ground.3:40The newer response description put winds at twenty to thirty miles an hour.3:45Earlier estimates were fifteen to twenty-five, with no clear indication that they3:49covered the same observation period.3:51By November two, most of New Hampshire had gone close to two weeks without3:56significant rain.3:57Precipitation was well below average over the previous fourteen months.4:02Fallen leaves supplied dry fuel, and bare branches let more sunlight reach and dry4:07the ground.4:08The state's wildfire risk rating.4:10Was high across New Hampshire, with high risk also described across much of northern4:15New England.4:16The November two outlook expected no precipitation for at least several days.4:21Those were the conditions and forecast accompanying the response.4:25Blanchett urged residents to make campfires and fall Kulatop brush fires completely4:30cold.4:31He advised adding plenty of water, stirring the remains, and checking cautiously for4:36heat.4:37His earlier warning also covered smoking materials and wood stoves during dry4:42conditions.4:43Crews planned to keep monitoring the burned area through the week.4:46As of November4, it's still unclear whether both drone-detected hotspots were fully4:52extinguished, or whether a later inspection found the entire site cold.Explorar con HeyDexSeguir por RSS
