distance triathlon in seven hours, nineteen minutes0:12and seventeen seconds.0:13His Florida victory takes the reported world best below seven hours and twenty0:17minutes.0:18How did he build the winning gap?0:19And which records did he beat?0:21Dytlev beat Rudy von Berg by fourteen minutes and eight seconds.0:24He also cut fifteen minutes and twenty, four seconds from von Berg's Florida course0:29record of seven hours, thirty four minutes and forty, one seconds, set in two0:33thousand and twenty-three.0:34The decisive advantage came on the bike, leaving Dytlev enough room to withstand a0:39faster marathon behind him.0:40The race took place on November seventh, two thousand and twenty, six and eye Panama0:44City Beach on Florida's panhandle.0:46Athletes faced an ocean swim, followed by flat bike and run courses.0:50That describes the course layout.0:51Actual conditions can differ between races.0:54Dytlev's finishing time beats two different benchmarks.0:57One belongs to races carrying the Iron Man name.0:59The other spans full distance events more broadly, including Challenge Roth.1:03His Florida performance is being described as a world best across that wider1:07category, with formal recognition still pending.1:09Sam Ladlow's previous full distance benchmark was seven hours twenty one minutes and1:14four seconds at Challenge Roth earlier in two thousand and twenty-six.1:16Dytlev's seven hours, nineteen minutes and seventeen seconds lowers that time by one1:20minute and forty seven seconds.1:22The previous Iron Man branded benchmark was Christian Blumenfeld's seven hours,1:26twenty one minutes and twelve seconds at Cozumel in two thousand and twenty-one.1:30Dytlev improves that by one minute and fifty five seconds.1:33Those are comparisons between finishing clocks across different courses.1:37They don't settle whether distances and conditions were equivalent.1:40Dytlev left the water just ten seconds behind swim leader Andrew Horsfall, Turner,1:44who swam forty, seven minutes and forty, two seconds.1:47Emil Holm and Ben Canu emerged a few seconds behind the leader.1:50Detlev swam forty, seven fifty two.1:53Close to Von Berg's forty, seven fifty.1:56Long's fifty one twenty left him chasing from farther back.1:59Dytlev was a minute and sixteen seconds clear by thirty three point seven2:03kilometers.2:03Halfway through the bike, he led a group including von Berg and Connet by more than2:07six minutes.2:08Long was ninth then.2:09But eventually rode his way into second.2:11Dytlev rode three hours, fifty one minutes and sixteen seconds, a reported full2:16distance best.2:17That's two minutes and sixteen seconds faster than Cameron Worf's Texas benchmark2:21from two thousand and twenty-five.2:22Dytlev also took seven minutes and forty six seconds off his own Florida bike record2:26of three hours, fifty, nine minutes and two seconds, set in two thousand and2:31twenty-three.2:31Dytlev reached the bike to run, transition more than eleven minutes ahead of Long,2:36von Berg and Connet.2:37He followed that ride with a two hour thirty-three minute thirty one second2:41marathon.2:41Overall times include transitions as well as the three racing disciplines.2:45Von Berg and Long ran together through halfway before von Berg pulled away.2:49He finished second in seven hours, thirty three minutes and twenty five seconds.2:54Behind them, forty one year.2:56Old Hansen climbed from eighteenth off the bike to third, passing long in the3:00closing kilometers and finishing in seven hours, thirty five minutes and forty,3:04eight seconds.3:05Hansen ran two hours, twenty eight minutes and seven seconds.3:09He cut five minutes and fifty nine seconds from his own two thousand and3:12twenty-three course record.3:14His marathon was five minutes and twenty, four seconds faster than Dytlev's, but3:18couldn't erase the earlier deficit.3:19Long finished fourth in seven hours, thirty-eight minutes and fifty nine seconds,3:22three minutes and eleven seconds behind Hansen.3:24His marathon took two hours, forty, two minutes and forty, five seconds.3:28Long had finished sixth at Kona.3:30Von Berg had withdrawn there.3:31Florida came just twenty-eight days after that world championship.3:35Dytlev had led at Kona until the closing eight kilometers.3:38Afterward, he said, It's been a tough two years for me dealing with sickness and3:42disappointing results.3:43Florida gave him a victory and a substantially faster course record less than a3:47month later.3:48A one-second discrepancy affects the exact record times.3:51Detlev's finish is also listed at seven hours, nineteen minutes and sixteen seconds,3:55alongside the seventeen second finish.3:57Several discipline splits differ by one second too.4:00Official confirmation of those exact seconds is still pending.4:03The differences extend to Dytlev's bike and marathon, Hansen's run, Long's bike and4:07horsefall, Turner's swim.4:09They leave the victory and reported record breaking outcome unchanged.4:12The seven hour, nineteen minute, seventeen second finish is the basis for the4:18comparisons used here.4:19Florida also offered three men's professional places for the two thousand and4:22twenty-seven Kona Championship.4:24Detlev's win is reported to secure his place.4:26Hansen's third place finish puts him in line for the last slot, but his championship4:31qualification hasn't yet been confirmed.Read the articleStory timelineHeyDex
