The second wave0:11hit about half an hour later as0:13firefighters and medics were pulling0:14survivors from the fire, and the [music]0:16rescue is still running as rubble is0:18cleared. The strike hit at around 16:300:20to 16:35 at the Sonyachna Halyareya0:23complex,0:24>> [music]0:24>> also rendered Sunny Gallery and Sunny0:26Valley, the largest shopping center in0:28the city.0:28>> [music]0:29>> The mall was described as full of0:30visitors on a weekday afternoon with no0:32precise count of how many were inside.0:34Geolocated video shows a drone impact0:37creating a fireball through smoke0:38already rising from the first hit,0:39[music]0:40followed by a second impact while0:41emergency crews were working. That 26 to0:4430-minute gap is what Ukrainian0:46officials [music] point to as a0:47deliberate double tap on rescuers, and0:49operations ran through the night.0:51[music] 14 killed and more than 1000:53wounded, including 11 children, was the0:55first [music] toll from the afternoon.0:57Within hours that number moved to 150:59killed and 130 injured, including1:01[music] 23 children as bodies were1:03recovered and hospitals reported in. Officials caution1:50the toll will likely rise further as1:52fire suppression and rubble clearance1:53[music] continue. Damage was heavy and1:56immediate. Shops inside were set on1:58fire. Structural elements collapsed2:00including a ceiling section near the2:02parking garage and about a third [music]2:03of the complex burned. Thick black smoke2:06could be seen for kilometers and2:07residents were advised to close windows.2:09The Joyce Gate household goods retailer2:11confirmed its store inside was destroyed2:13with no employees injured,2:14>> [music]2:15>> an indication of how commercial units2:16across the mall were affected. The full2:19inventory of structural [music] loss2:20beyond that burned third and the2:22surrounding area has not been detailed.2:24That wording carried through the evening2:25address and posts. The statement called2:28the strike deliberate, [music]2:29despicable, and vile, said the second2:31strike targeting emergency responders2:32half an hour after the fire underscored2:34intent, offered condolences, ordered2:36[music] medical care for the wounded and2:38a full accounting of everyone who may2:39have been inside, said Ukraine will2:41definitely respond, and said for peace2:43to be possible Russia [music] must face2:45real accountability and the world must2:47not remain silent and must help end the2:49war with real pressure on the aggressor.2:51A phrase reported elsewhere, terror by2:53design, was attributed to EU foreign2:55policy chief Kaja Kallas and was not2:57found as a direct Zelensky quote in2:59searched statements.
