Boulevard Kills Driver in PickupAired August 21, 2026 at 7:20 PM UTCWritten September 7, 2026 at 9:22 PM UTCRead the write-upThis storyTranscript · LOADING0:00One person was killed around [music]0:012:30 in the afternoon on August 21st0:04when a Beech King Air 200 made an0:06emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard0:08near Highland Drive [music] in Prince0:09George, British Columbia, about 1.5 km0:13north of North Nechako Road, colliding0:15with vehicles on the roadway. The victim0:17was an occupant of a vehicle on the0:19ground, not an occupant of the aircraft,0:21and has not been publicly identified.0:24Everyone aboard the aircraft survived0:25[music] the landing itself. That stretch0:27of Foothills Boulevard is not a runway.0:29It is a four-lane arterial through a0:31residential and commercial area that0:33carries [music] steady daytime traffic,0:35and the aircraft came down among moving0:36cars. Its left wing struck a pickup0:38truck with debris smashing through the0:40windshield, and a propeller separating0:42and coming to rest in the roadway,0:43[music]0:43scattering wreckage across lanes. A0:45second vehicle described as a red SUV0:48was also struck,0:49>> [music]0:49>> and a yellow car was left off to the0:50side as drivers swerved toward ditches0:52to avoid the descending aircraft. The0:54pilot had notified Prince George Airport0:56that an emergency landing was needed,0:58and airport emergency resources were1:00placed on standby for an arrival on the1:02airfield. The aircraft came down short1:04of the airport on the road instead. It1:06had departed Prince George Airport1:07around 11:00 a.m. toward the Chemise1:09Creek area and was returning in the1:10early afternoon when the emergency was1:12declared. Paramedics assessed 101:14patients at the scene. Two were1:16transported [music]1:17to hospital in stable condition. The1:19eight others who were assessed were not1:21transported, and their conditions have1:23not been detailed. Beyond [music] that1:24triage count, the official medical1:26status of the pilot and passengers has1:28not been released, though no1:30life-threatening injuries have been1:31reported among those aboard, who1:33numbered about eight, consistent with1:35the capacity of the type. The response1:37was logged at about 2:26 [music] p.m. by1:39British Columbia Emergency Health1:40Services, with two ambulances staffed by1:42primary care paramedics, Lincoln1:44referral [music] units, a paramedic1:46supervisor, and an area manager1:47deployed. The Royal Canadian Mounted1:49Police log shows notification around1:512:20 p.m., a difference of minutes that1:53reflects different agency clocks, not a1:54separate event. The Royal Canadian1:56Mounted Police closed Foothills1:58Boulevard in both directions for the1:59investigation, a closure that lasted2:01overnight into the next day with2:03alternate routes advised and the2:04aircraft remained roadside near hydro2:06lines pending investigators. [music]2:08Police said no evasive maneuver was2:10possible in the dynamic situation, that2:12drivers could not have predicted or2:13avoided what happened with two cars2:15involved. The aircraft has been2:16confirmed as a Beechcraft 200 Super King2:19Air, registration [music] C-GE-DV,2:21serial BB-628, built in 1980 with a2:24maximum takeoff weight of about 5,6702:27kg. [music]2:28It was imported to Canada in 2017 and2:31has been registered to Seair Tair Ltd.2:33of Prince George [music] since October2:342025 after previously operating with2:37Upper Valley Aviation. The same airframe2:39was involved in a separate cabin2:41depressurization on January 20, 20242:44on a medical [music] flight from2:45Phoenix-Mesa Gateway to Kelowna when2:48oxygen masks deployed on descent through2:50about 20,000 ft southwest of Kelowna. It2:52landed safely then and inspection found2:55no defects in the outflow and safety2:56valves. That [music] history does not2:58explain the current emergency. Witness3:00Mohit Arora, 36, [music] had just turned3:03onto Foothills Boulevard when the3:04aircraft came down. He described the3:07left wing striking the pickup truck3:08within a millisecond and the detached3:10propeller nearly striking his own3:12vehicle, which was stopped about 10 ft3:14ahead, calling the experience traumatic3:16and said the pickup driver was injured3:18but survived. The driver of the red Ford3:20SUV, Jaime Pollick,3:22>> [music]3:22>> described the plane coming speeding3:24right toward them, swerving hard right3:26toward the ditch in the rightmost lane3:27and still being struck, saying he should3:29not be here, [music] reporting only cuts3:31and minor whiplash, saying he did not3:33recall engine noise at impact and3:35crediting the vehicle's suspension for3:37absorbing much of the downward force.3:38[music] The SUV's roof and glass were3:40crushed and a thick metal rod speared3:42through the backseat at chest height.3:44Photos and video from the scene [music]3:46show the aircraft stopped roadside with3:48wing damage and an open door near hydro3:49lines. The detached propeller in the3:51road, the pickup truck with debris3:53through the windshield, the mangled SUV,3:55the yellow car off to the side, and3:57first responders working among debris3:59while onlookers gathered and were urged4:00to stay away to avoid diverting4:02resources. The Transportation Safety4:04Board of Canada confirmed the aircraft4:06[music] type as a Beech King Air 200 and4:08deployed investigators expected to4:10arrive by August 22nd to assess the4:13occurrence and assume conduct of the4:14investigation. [music] The examination4:16will include the aircraft and wreckage,4:18any data sources, and the 72-hour4:20history. The cause or nature of the4:22emergency that forced the roadway4:24landing,4:25whether an engine or systems issue,4:27fuel, weather, performance, or another4:29factor,4:29>> [music]4:30>> and what communications occurred in the4:31final minutes has not been released. No4:33safety findings, cause determination, or4:36recommendations have been issued, and4:38investigators will also determine the4:40complete accounting of vehicles4:41involved, detailed conditions of the4:43eight patients assessed but not4:45transported, [music] confirmation of the4:47flight paperwork and manifest,4:49identification of the person killed, and4:51when the aircraft will be removed and4:53Foothills Boulevard fully reopened.4:55Like and follow for more stories that4:57matter.Explore with HeyDexThe shortThe short ↗
