kidnapped ten-year-old alive, bound inside a duffel bag.0:12Her twelve-year-old sister was hospitalized after an alleged hammer attack.0:16Vince Edgar Chavez now faces a federal kidnapping complaint, alongside ten state0:21felony charges, and he's being held without bail.0:25How did officers find the child?0:27And what does the federal case add?0:29The girl disappeared from her home in Canby and was rescued in Oregon City.0:34Both communities are in the Portland area.0:36Investigators placed Chavez's apartment about nine miles from the child's home.0:41The girl's mother said she woke around one forty in the morning after hearing0:45someone talking.0:47She saw a man she didn't recognize rush her younger daughter out the door, then saw0:52a white van drive away.0:53Her older daughter was bleeding from the head.0:56Prosecutors allege Chavez repeatedly struck the twelve-year-old with a hammer,1:00knocking her unconscious.1:02The younger girl later told investigators he struck her with the same hammer.1:07Before forcing her into the van, her sister was taken to a hospital.1:11Investigators say the attacker left a hammer and backpack at the home.1:15They say the backpack contained clothing, rope, zip ties, lubricant,1:21a black eye mask, and a male vitality supplement.1:24The mother identified Chavez as someone she'd previously associated with and said1:30he'd expressed sexual interest in her younger daughter.1:33Investigators believed the child's life was in immediate danger, so they obtained1:37emergency cell phone records.1:40The FBI's cell phone analysis team examined them while Oregon City police searched1:45street by street.1:47Together, those efforts led officers to Pleasant Avenue and a white van associated1:53with Chavez.1:54At about one forty-six that afternoon, FBI agents saw Chavez access the van and2:00return to the residence.2:01Officers made an emergency entry.2:04Because they believed the child was at immediate risk.2:06Authorities say Chavez tried to escape through the back of the house.2:10Officers arrested him without further incident.2:13The recovery team brought together the U.S.2:15Marshall's Regional Violent Offender Task Force, Clackamus County SWAT, Oregon2:21City Police, Washington County's Tactical Negotiations Team, and the FBI,2:27Kenby Police, and the Clackamus County Major Crimes Team also worked on the2:32investigation.2:33Officers found the girl in a bedroom closet, bound with duct tape inside a zipped2:38duffel bag.2:39She later told investigators she'd lost consciousness after being strangled and woke2:45as officers entered.2:47Paramedics took her to a hospital for treatment of injuries and further evaluation.2:52The rescue happened on October twenty-eighth.2:55Chavez's state arraignment followed on October twenty-ninth.3:00Federal prosecutors announced their kidnapping complaint on November third.3:04The new development is the federal prosecution.3:07A week after officers recovered the child, the search lasted roughly twelve hours,3:13rather than the thirteen hours first described.3:16The overnight disappearance and afternoon sighting of Chavez were about twelve hours3:21apart, with officers entering afterward.3:23Other people in the residence told investigators they hadn't known the girl was3:28there.3:28The state charges include first-degree attempted murder, kidnapping, sexual abuse,3:33and burglary.3:34Chavez also faces first and second degree assault, two counts of first-degree3:39sodomy, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.3:42Together, those make ten felony counts.3:45The girl told investigators, Chavez drove her away, then stopped the van, strangled3:50her, and sexually assaulted her.3:53She said he took her to his apartment in a black bag.3:56She also described being shown adult pornography and threatened with the acts4:00depicted.4:01The girl said Chavez initially promised to take her home.4:04But later said, Yeah, never mind.4:07She described another strangulation before losing consciousness inside the4:11duffelbag.4:12Prosecutors' allegations against Chavez remain unproven, and he's presumed innocent4:17unless proved guilty.4:19Circuit Judge Jeffrey S.4:21Jones ordered Chavez held without bail at the Clackamas County Jail.4:26Prosecutors asked for that detention because of the alleged violence and the4:31children's vulnerability.4:32Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Owen cited the number of alleged violent4:36felonies and the vulnerability of the victims when requesting detention.4:41The judge granted that request at the state arraignment, and Chavez remains in4:46custody without bail.4:47County officials identified Chavez as thirty-five in their October release.4:52Federal officials identified him as thirty-six in November, without explaining the4:57difference.4:58The federal complaint adds a separate prosecution for kidnapping a minor, while the5:03state case continues.5:05The ten state counts remain in place alongside the federal kidnapping complaint.5:10Federal prosecutors allege Chavez used public roads and a cell phone while5:15transporting the child across local jurisdictions.5:17Those are the grounds they cite for bringing the federal case.5:20The FBI's Portland Office, Oregon City Police, the Clackamus County Sheriff's5:26Office, and local partners are investigating the federal case.5:30Assistant U.S.5:31Attorney Kate Roshat is prosecuting it.5:34Chavez's next scheduled proceeding is a state arraignment on an indictment on5:39November5.5:40Authorities haven't released either sister's current medical condition.สำรวจกับ HeyDexติดตามผ่าน RSS
