As of August 16, 2026, drought-driven low Danube levels had cut Paks Nuclear Power Plant output to about 25 percent. Authorities were sinking two water-filled barges to raise water levels near the plant and building a longer-term barrier; the report does not say that cooling-water levels or output have recovered.
