科學 · Bella Coola investigationBella Coola bear attack: One grizzly captured, DNA assessment pending文字 2026年11月8日 下午3:46 [UTC]觀看逐字稿0:07Conservation officers have captured a grizzly for testing after a mother and0:10daughter's deaths.0:11The trail warning near Belakula remains in place, and trapping continues.0:15On November4, we reported that both women had been found dead after a suspected0:19animal attack.0:20No bears had been captured at that update.0:23Investigators now have to determine whether this captured grizzly was involved.0:26Bear sightings have been reported near the area of the suspected attack in British0:30Columbia.0:31Conservation officers are asking people to keep avoiding the West Snooka Trail area,0:35also called Snooka West Trail.0:36A team remains in the community.0:38The capture gives officers an animal they can examine against evidence from the0:42scene.0:42They still don't know how many bears may have been involved.0:45Evidence initially suggested possible animal involvement, and the circumstances of0:49the two deaths remain under investigation.0:52Jennifer Balcaris, also known as Jenny, was forty, eight and a mother of four.0:56Her daughter was Sella Reed.0:57Relatives identified the women after they failed to return from what was expected to1:01be a short afternoon walk.1:02Balcaris worked as an art therapist.1:04Reed worked as an education assistant and studied online through Athabasca1:08University.1:08Family members said they shared a love of art in hiking and knew the trail.1:12It was roughly a five-minute drive from home.1:14Reed has been identified as both nineteen and twenty years old.1:17That difference hasn't been resolved.1:19The family reported the pair missing on November one.1:21Search teams found Balcaris's remains on Monday, November two, and Reed's on Tuesday1:26afternoon, November three.1:27Officials said they were about one hundred and fifty meters apart.1:30Police, search, and rescue personnel and conservation officers took part in the1:34response.1:34Reed's discovery ended the uncertainty over whether she was still missing.1:38The investigation then focused on the deaths and the search for any animals1:41involved.1:42An unsuccessful overnight trapping effort was still being described on November5.1:45The count has since changed to one captured grizzly.1:48The Conservation Officer Service announced the capture on November6.1:51No DNA match or exclusion has been announced.1:53Officers plan to use forensic DNA matching, distinctive physical measurements, and1:57other characteristics specific to the animal to assess its involvement.2:01Wildlife biologists and the provincial wildlife veterinarian will help care for the2:04bear while it's assessed.2:05They work with British Columbia's Ministry of Water.2:08Land and resource stewardship.2:10The animal's fate depends on what that assessment finds.2:12The latest policy makes the decision conditional.2:15A bear confirmed responsible will be killed to protect public safety.2:18An unrelated bear will be released.2:20Officers will care for the captured animal while they determine which outcome2:23applies.2:24Officers also have forensic and other evidence from a separate Belakula attack2:27in2025 .2:28They'll compare that evidence with captured bears undergoing assessment.2:32That earlier attack involved schoolchildren and teachers and injured eleven people.2:36Any connection between the two incidents still has to be determined.2:39The wider response has reached school journeys and travel after dark.2:42On November5, additional RCMP officers were deployed to help escort students.2:47The Nuxock Nation also announced increased night patrols and voluntary rides home2:50for young people out at night.2:52The community recommended being indoors by eight p n, and the recommendation wasn't2:56to be enforced.2:57Residents were also asked to remove food and other bear attractants from outside.3:01Transportation, mental health assistance, and cultural supports were announced.3:05Officers were adding capture devices that they could expand as needed.3:08Those community measures date from before the capture update.3:11The latest instruction for the trail is explicit: keep avoiding the area while3:15trapping continues.3:16Investigators have one grizzly to assess, but they haven't identified it as3:20responsible.3:20They haven't announced a date for the forensic results.3:23Those findings will guide whether the bear is killed or released.閱讀文章事件時間軸HeyDex誰報導了什麼多家媒體報導的要點Public warning to avoid the trail area5 家媒體Family reported the pair missing on November first5 家媒體Second person's remains found Tuesday4 家媒體First person's
