災害 · B.C. stormsZeballos storm flooding: 22 properties ordered evacuated, more winds forecast文字 2026年11月8日 上午12:22 [UTC]觀看逐字稿0:07Zabalos officials have ordered twenty-two properties evacuated because of flooding0:11and landslide danger.0:12About forty thousand electricity customers across British Columbia remain0:15disconnected as another storm approaches.0:17When can evacuated households return?0:19And can repair crews catch up before more lines fail?0:22The village declared a local state of emergency on Friday, November6.0:26Zabales has about one hundred and twenty-five residents, but the evacuation order0:30covers part of the village.0:31Twenty-two is a property count.0:33Officials haven't given account of the people who left.0:36Aha Tassat Nation Chief Simon John described a river that had risen sharply and was0:40full after heavy rain.0:42Flooding and unstable slopes threatened the community together.0:45The village and Strathcona Regional District activated their emergency operations0:49centers.0:49Residents under an evacuation order were required to leave.0:52A separate alert told affected residents and visitors to prepare to leave in under0:55thirty minutes if instructed.0:57That alert was issued until further notice.0:59Emergency support registration was directed to the Zabales Fire Hall at one hundred1:03fifty five Makina Avenue.1:05The November6 notice also encouraged other residents around Pandora, Gold Valley,1:09and Reno Roads, to shelter at home unless directed otherwise.1:12It closed Makina Avenue between numbers one hundred one and one hundred eighteen.1:16Those were the restrictions set out in that notice.1:18About eighty thousand customers lost power at Friday's provincial peak, and earlier1:21Friday, evening check had put the number at least thirty thousand.1:24By eight Saturday morning, about forty thousand were still disconnected.1:28Those numbers describe different points in the storm and repair effort.1:31The fall from about eighty thousand to about forty thousand shows the scale of the1:35restoration work, but new failures were developing while crews repaired earlier1:39damage.1:39BC Hydro expected repairs to continue through Saturday, with further outages1:43possible.1:44Vancouver Island alone had more than thirty thousand customers without power at1:47Friday's peak.1:48Across the central interior and north, about twenty-three thousand lost electricity1:52in one hundred mile house, Williams Lake, Casnell, and Vanderhoof.1:56About one third of Prince George was without power at one point.1:59Those regional figures cover different snapshots and shouldn't be added together.2:02Prince George was among the hard-hit areas targeted for repairs, along with Port2:06Hardy.2:06Courtenay and Qualicum.2:08Farther south, the Tzawasan Swartz Bay Ferry Crossing faced more cancellations.2:12Zabalus's evacuation emergency was unfolding within a much wider disruption to2:16electricity and travel.2:17Crews had to repair damaged lines, poles, and other electrical equipment.2:21BC Hydro was monitoring two and potentially three more weather systems through2:25midweek.2:26It was preparing crews, contractors, and other resources for an extended response,2:30while the next storm threatened equipment already under strain.2:33BC Hydro says prolonged drought and heat can weaken trees and their roots, leaving2:38them more vulnerable when wind and rain arrive.2:40The utility says it has spent one hundred and fifty million dollars over the past2:43several years identifying and removing dangerous trees and vegetation near lines.2:47Down wires add another danger for households already losing light and heat.2:51BC Hydro advises people to stay at least ten meters from downed, damaged or low,2:56hanging power lines, and report them to emergency services.2:59A line can remain hazardous even when nearby homes have lost power.3:02BC Hydro recommends a stocked seventy-two hour emergency kit, including water,3:06non-perishable food.3:07Flashlights, batteries, and first aid supplies.3:09The next weather systems could prolong the response, even as crews reconnect3:13customers affected by the first storm.3:15BC Ferries cancelled more departures before the next strong winds arrived.3:19Saturday7 p m and nine p.3:22Sailings were cancelled in both directions between Sawassen and Swartz Bay because3:26of forecast high winds and waves.3:28Smaller routes also lost sailings, and more departures remained at risk.3:32Some service had resumed after Friday's cancellations, but delays continued as3:36operations caught up.3:37Saturday's further cancellations extended the disruption.3:40BC Ferries said its crews were monitoring conditions and that passenger and crew3:44safety had to come first.3:45Parts of Vancouver Island had received up to two hundred ten millimeters of rain3:49since Thursday.3:50The earlier Friday evening figure was up to one hundred and seventy five millimeters3:54in some areas over twenty-four hours.3:56The longer accumulation window explains why those figures can't be treated as the4:00same measurement.4:01The weekend forecast allowed about two hundred and fifty millimeters or locally more4:05in parts of Vancouver Island, including rain already received.4:08A separate forecast allowed four hundred millimeters or more across the current and4:11incoming systems over the following week.4:13That was a longer forecast horizon.4:15The next coastal storm was expected Saturday, November7 th.4:18Friday evening's initial outlook allowed gusts of110 to120 kilometers an hour in4:23parts of the coast.4:24Saturday's warnings narrowed the forecast by region, with different wind strengths4:28and different times for conditions to ease.4:30Northern Vancouver Island faced forecast gusts up to110 kilometers an hour.4:35Much of the south coast faced southeasterly winds of seventy, gusting to ninety.4:39The interior outlook called for gusts of sixty to eighty kilometers an hour.4:43Wind warnings covered most of Vancouver Island, including Victoria, plus Metro4:47Vancouver, the Southern Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast, and Fraser Canyon.4:51Northern Island winds were expected to ease by late afternoon but stay gusty4:54overnight.4:55South coast winds were forecast to die down towards midnight.4:57High stream flow advisories covered most of Vancouver Island, the south and central5:01coasts, Sea to Sky, and the lower Fraser River Basin.5:04Northern and Western Island waterways were rising rapidly along much of the island's5:08west coast.5:09Elevated ocean levels, waves, and high tides made minor low, lying shoreline5:13flooding likely.5:14Zabala's households still need a safe return decision, while electricity customers5:18need repairs that can withstand the next weather system.5:21A dated evacuation all clear and a final restoration count haven't been confirmed.5:25The immediate outlook extends beyond the coast's overnight winds.5:28The interior special weather statement stretched from Hope North to Burns Lake.5:32Winds were expected to strengthen Saturday afternoon and peak Sunday morning.5:36Another cold front was expected to bring stronger winds there Sunday afternoon.閱讀文章事件時間軸HeyDex誰報導了什麼多家媒體報導的要點Customers without power Saturday morning3 家媒體Saturday evening Tsawwassen–Swartz Bay cancellations2
