災害 · Border-town floodingMcCaysville Copperhill flooding: River tops 1990 record as rescues continue文字 2026年11月5日 下午1:54 [UTC]觀看逐字稿0:07Flood water trapped residents in their homes and pushed a river above its19900:11record.0:12In McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee, rescuers are still working even0:17though the rain has stopped.0:19Homes and businesses are inundated, and evacuations are continuing.0:23Can crews reach everyone still waiting to get out?0:26McCaysville and Copperhill share the same river corridor across the state line.0:31In Georgia, it's called the Tacoa.0:34In Tennessee, it's the Okoe.0:36The flooding in these neighboring towns belongs to one connected emergency.0:41The river rose above the level associated with catastrophic flooding in both towns.0:46Flash flood emergencies, the highest level of flood warning, followed.0:51By Thursday morning, November5, water had swamped streets and buildings while0:56emergency crews were still trying to reach people inside their homes.1:00The river crested shortly after six in the morning, just above the previous record1:05set in nineteen ninety.1:07That peak came after homes were already flooding and evacuations were underway.1:12Reaching the crest still left both towns facing dangerous water.1:16Mackaysville's mayor and city council declared a state of emergency.1:20The city closed unauthorized personnel until further notice, protecting residents1:25and responders, while rescue work continued.1:28Evacuation orders specifically covered residents on West Tennessee Avenue and East1:34Tennessee Avenue.1:35Police Chief Michael Early communicated the restrictions and urged people to leave.1:40A transportation camera showed streets and buildings swamped by the river along the1:46evacuation area, across the border in Copperhill.1:50Emergency management described numerous homes and businesses under several feet of1:55water.1:55Early described crews struggling to reach trapped residents.1:59He said, We're actively trying to water rescue people, and we've still got several2:04people trapped in homes that we're trying to get to.2:06His account captured the danger during the rising flood before the subsequently2:11reported Early's written instruction was direct.2:14Do not delay your evacuation.2:17Leave the area now.2:18Fanon County Emergency Management also said early Thursday that numerous2:24residents still needed evacuation.2:27Rescue work continued after the downpours ended.2:30Mudslides also hampered emergency access in the region.2:33Other parts of Fannon County and neighboring Gilmer County faced a separate flash2:38flood emergency overnight.2:40Emergency managers in both counties described widespread flooding, multiple flooded2:45homes, and some homes completely surrounded by water.2:48Water rescues were underway there too.2:50The Okoe was already at major flood stage when an earlier warning put it three feet2:56below its all-time peak.2:58It then crested above the nineteen ninety record.3:01The later Copper Hill warning.3:03Extended the deadline to nine in the morning.3:06Slow-moving storms delivered widespread totals of three to six inches across parts3:10of North Georgia, with isolated amounts above eight inches.3:15Those regional totals varied from place to place.3:18Multiple area gauges recorded up to six inches in just six hours, an intensity3:23described as at least a one in two hundred year rainfall.3:26A one in two hundred year rainfall means a zero point five percent chance in any3:31given year.3:32Under normal circumstances, another rainfall that intends can happen much sooner3:37than two hundred years later.3:38The estimate describes probability rather than a timetable between storms.3:43Flash flood warnings also covered Fannon, Gilmer, Murray, and northwestern Union3:48counties overnight.3:50Parts of Cherokee County, North Carolina, and Polk County, Tennessee faced warnings3:55too.3:56Some earlier warning periods ended by seven fifteen.3:59Later updates extended warnings for both McCaysville and Copperhill to nine.4:04Both towns' latest warnings run until nine.4:07But a scheduled expiration doesn't mean the water has receded.4:10Mackay'sville remains closed to unauthorized personnel.4:14Until further notice, dangerous river flooding is expected to persist through4:18Thursday.4:19Whether those warnings are extended or replaced is the next decision.4:24Nobody has said whether crews have reached everyone awaiting evacuation, and the4:28final human toll is still unknown.4:31The forecast calls for no additional downpours through the weekend, while dangerous4:36river flooding remains a threat through the day.閱讀文章事件時間軸HeyDex誰報導了什麼多家媒體報導的要點✓Overnight
