司法 · Ueno Bank casePena detention Paraguay: Santiago Peña held after removal in Ueno Bank case文字 2026年11月8日 上午2:58 [UTC]觀看逐字稿0:07Santiago PA is being held at the Presidential Escort Regiment.0:11A judge has ordered the ousted president to remain in custody while prosecutors0:15investigate alleged misuse of public and pension money.0:17Millions of savers can't access deposits at the bank at the center of the case.0:21Can prosecutors prove P used his influence over that money?0:25Pia had already spent Friday night at the regiment in Asunse.0:28Judge Humberto Otaz ordered him to remain there on November seventh.0:32The ruling keeps the former president in custody while the criminal investigation0:35into Ueno Bank continues.0:37Earlier that day, Pe spent about three hours being questioned by prosecutors in the0:41capital.0:42Prosecutors then sought pretrial detention.0:45Otaz granted their request after a separate hearing attended by Pia and his lawyer.0:49Pia lost the presidency and was arrested on November sixth.0:52His impeachment found him responsible for poor performance of duties.0:56On November7, the judge ordered pretrial detention.0:59The impeachment decided his political future.1:02Prosecutors still have to prove the criminal allegations.1:05Prosecutor Nancy Salam and identified the alleged offenses as breach of trust and1:09administration for personal benefit, also described as self-dealing.1:12The prosecution is examining whether PEA helped direct substantial public and1:16pension funds into Ueno Bank and keep them there.1:19Prosecutors allege PIA intervened when public institutions and pension entities1:23placed money at UNO, renewed those placements, and left funds there.1:27They also allege the bank received public resources while lending to companies1:30connected to its own business group.1:32Prosecutors say PEA had an earlier economic and corporate relationship with the1:36bank's business group.1:37They also point to supervisory observations and irregularities identified by the1:41central bank in the lending operations.1:43Those alleged connections are what investigators must now turn into evidence against1:46him.1:47Otaz's decision determines where PEA will remain during the proceedings.1:50It leaves prosecutors with the task of proving their accusations, including his1:55alleged role in the transactions.1:56The court hasn't decided his guilt or found that he caused the bank's crisis.2:00Ueno's customers face a more immediate problem.2:03The central bank intervened amid solvency problems, and the crisis became public on2:07November3.2:07Savers lost access to deposits while public institutions also found money they held2:12at the bank frozen.2:13UNO Bank had two point nine four million customers.2:16That figure counts the bank's customers rather than individual frozen accounts.2:20Major state institutions were among those with funds frozen, so the restrictions2:24reached public money as well as personal savings.2:26The central bank began a resolution process to deal with the troubled bank.2:29Customers' eventual recovery depends on what happens through that process.2:32Restricted access to a deposit doesn't by itself tell a saver how much money will2:36ultimately be recovered.2:38Large street protests followed the loss of access to savings, and police repelled2:42protesters.2:42The bank crisis spilled into public anger before the change at the presidency.2:46Removing PPA from office left customers facing the same restrictions on their money.2:50Lawmakers have approved legislation for an advance on deposit guarantees.2:54That creates a response for savers waiting for money, but payments to customers2:58haven't been confirmed.2:59The political transfer has also kept the presidency within the same party.3:02Pedro Aliana succeeded P after serving as his vice president.3:06November7 was his first full day as president,3:09and both men belonged to the Colorado Party.3:11Carlos Carvalho, who previously headed the central bank, is also accused in the UNO3:15investigation.3:16Prosecutors still have to connect P, A's actions to the movement of public savings3:21and the bank's lending in court.3:22How much public or pension money was improperly placed remains unclear.3:26For customers, T here is still no confirmed date for restoring access to deposits,3:31or a verified total of what they will ultimately recover.閱讀文章事件時間軸HeyDex誰報導了什麼多家媒體報導的要點Charges against Peña4 家媒體Order placing Peña in pretrial detention3 家媒體Detention location at the Presidential Escort Regiment2
