  1. Update 1Davenport murder suspect held on $500,000 cash-only bondYou are here

$500,000, cash only: that is the bond listed for Eric Durant Logsdon, the 65-year-old charged after a fatal shooting at a Davenport, Iowa, home. The Scott County jail’s latest available update, dated October 25 at 8:20 p.m. local time, showed the bond still open, no payment recorded and Logsdon in custody. 4

A 30-year-old man died after the Friday-night shooting on Wisconsin Avenue. Police say a disturbance between him and Logsdon preceded the gunfire, but the public account leaves the central question unanswered: what happened between the two men? 1

Logsdon faces first-degree murder and going armed with intent charges. Both are felony allegations, not findings of guilt. He is presumed innocent, and the jail record lists no conviction or sentence. 4

Davenport police, fire personnel and Medic EMS responded to the home. They found the man with life-threatening injuries and performed lifesaving measures at the scene before he was taken to a local hospital. He died there from his injuries, according to the police account published by KWQC on October 24. 1

That account identifies the location only as the 1500 block of Wisconsin Avenue. It does not establish an exact house number or name the hospital. Police had not released the victim’s name when KWQC published its initial Saturday report, and no subsequent identification is established in the material available for this report. 1

What “disturbance” does not explain

Police said they learned that a disturbance had occurred between the victim and Logsdon before the shooting. The report does not describe how it began, what either man did or the circumstances in which the gun was fired. It also does not explain the men’s relationship. 1

“Disturbance” is therefore a description of something police say preceded the gunfire, not a complete account of the shooting. It should not be stretched into a conclusion about motive, who initiated the encounter or why the encounter became deadly. Those gaps matter more than any shorthand label for the case.

A shorter KWQC account described a man dead and another man in custody. That wording does not establish an additional suspect: it contrasts the deceased man with the detained man. The fuller report names Logsdon as the person arrested, and the official jail record independently confirms his booking by Davenport police. 1 2 4

The dates need keeping separate

The jail record identifies Logsdon by his full name, Eric Durant Logsdon, and lists both felony charges under case number FECR463156. It records his booking early Saturday and says the cash-only bond was set on October 24. These entries corroborate his identity, booking and listed charges; they do not supply the missing account of the confrontation. 4

There is also an unexplained difference between the incident chronology and the jail’s charge entries. KWQC’s October 24 police report places the shooting on Friday night—October 23. Both charge rows in the jail record display October 24 as the offense date. Neither source explains why those dates differ. The administrative entries should not silently move the reported Friday-night shooting to Saturday. 1 4

The custody information has its own limit: it is a dated snapshot. It establishes what the jail listed on Sunday evening, not a guarantee that Logsdon’s bond or custody status cannot change afterward. The roster itself cautions that its information is subject to revision. 4

No scheduled hearing, plea or subsequent court ruling is established in the available records. The next substantive developments are an official identification of the man who died and court records clarifying the allegations and Logsdon’s next appearance. Until then, the bond and charges describe the criminal case’s status—not a settled account of what happened inside the home.
