At least 3 reported shot in Northwest Baltimore; one received CPRWhat we said was still open
The final victim count, hospital outcomes, precise shooting site and result of the suspect search remain unconfirmed.
Still openFor Monday's separate shooting, CBS Baltimore now reports three victims: a 24-year-old man killed and men aged 39 and 21 hospitalized in stable condition, near Fuel Motor Fuels in the 5200 block of Muth Avenue. The result of the suspect search and later hospital outcomes remain unestablished. 1
A matching police account and verified medical updates would establish what happened beyond the initial scene report.
Still openCBS Baltimore's October 19 account, citing police, establishes a death and the two other men's reported hospital conditions beyond our initial scene report. Later medical updates and a fuller account of the circumstances remain missing. 1
Now
A woman and a man died in Sunday's Edmondson Avenue shooting. Three other men were wounded, while police assessments of multiple rifle shooters remained preliminary.
A 34-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were killed, and three other men were wounded, when gunfire struck a BP gas station in West Baltimore on Sunday night, October 18. The surviving men were expected to live. Five people were shot at the same location; by the October 19 account, police had not announced an arrest or explained why the shooting happened. 1
The station is in the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue. Officers responding to a ShotSpotter gunshot-detection alert found four wounded people there. A fifth wounded person reached a hospital separately. The two deaths and three surviving victims are corroborated across local reporting, although the central questions—who fired and what led to the attack—remain unresolved. 12 1
Key facts
The four people found at the station were the 34-year-old woman and men aged 20, 24 and 48, according to the WJZ report published by The Banner. CBS Baltimore identified the woman and the 20-year-old man as those who died. The age of the fifth victim, a man who arrived at a hospital separately, was not established. 5 1
The expectation that the three wounded men would survive was the available medical assessment, not a report that they had been discharged or fully recovered. Their names, and the names of the two people killed, were not established in the available accounts. 1 5
The response came late Sunday, not on Monday when much of the reporting appeared. WBAL reported a 10:25 p.m. response to the detection alert; CBS Baltimore rounded the time to about 10:30 p.m. Those accounts place officers' arrival in roughly the same window, but neither establishes the exact moment the gunfire began. 2 1
What police believe, and what remains
Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said high-powered rifles were used and that two or three people appeared to have fired. Those were preliminary police assessments, not a completed reconstruction. The reported number of shooters is not a count of people arrested, and the description of rifles does not establish a model, caliber or recovered weapon. 1
Worley expressed frustration at people firing weapons they could not control. “It continues to be young people that indiscriminately fire weapons that they don't know how to shoot, they don't know how to control and multiple people are getting hit,” he said. That statement did not identify the gunmen in this case or establish their ages. The ages confirmed in the reporting belong to victims. 1
It is frustrating. We are going to continue to push, try to solve this one and hold those accountable who took two lives.
His pledge sets out the task, not its completion. In the October 19 CBS account, no arrest had been announced. No verified later development established charges, a motive or a revised casualty count. That is a limit on what can be reported, not evidence that investigators have taken no further action. 1 12
Separate shootings, separate unanswered questions
This was not the gas-station-area shooting HeyDay News reported on October 19 in Northwest Baltimore. Our earlier report said at least three people had been shot near Windsor Mill Road and Forest Park Avenue, with one receiving CPR. At that point, we had not confirmed a death.
CBS Baltimore's subsequent account established that Monday's shooting killed a 24-year-old man and wounded two other men, aged 39 and 21, who were hospitalized in stable condition. It placed the scene near Fuel Motor Fuels in the 5200 block of Muth Avenue. That is a different location, date and victim count from Sunday's five-victim BP shooting on Edmondson Avenue. 1
A third incident was also distinct: earlier Sunday evening, two women and a man were wounded at Pepper Liquor Store on Reisterstown Road. Those three victims, together with the five at the BP station, made eight people shot in two separate Sunday-night incidents. They should not be combined into a single attack or treated as evidence of a connection police have not established. 1
The wider city figures also resist a simple description. Police counted 253 people shot so far in 2026, compared with 247 at the same point the previous year, while homicides stood at 97, down from 105. Fewer killings and more people shot can both be true. Neither figure explains what happened at this station, and neither diminishes the injuries of the three men expected to survive. 1
For the Edmondson Avenue case, the essential distinction is between the toll, which is established, and the explanation, which is not. Two people died and three others were wounded. Police have offered an initial assessment of multiple rifle shooters; identifying those responsible and explaining the circumstances remain the unfinished work. 1
