Deputy found second body beside missing Missouri couple’s property; identities pending
به زبان انگلیسی در دسترس است
The disappearance of Leo and Katherine Lindeman in September has given the discovery of two bodies beside their rural Missouri property an immediate, unresolved significance. On Monday, November 2, the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office added details about how the bodies were found: a landowner reported one deceased person, a responding deputy found a second nearby, and a dog was alive close to one of them. Neither person has been formally identified.1
The Monday announcement, reproduced by KY3, expands the account of Sunday’s discovery outside Anderson. It does not establish that the deceased are the Lindemans, or explain how either person died. Formal identification is expected later this week, following autopsies and confirmation by the county coroner and medical examiner. No particular announcement date has been given.1
One report led to two discoveries
Emergency dispatchers received the landowner’s call at about 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1. The caller reported finding a deceased person near the 4500 block of East State Highway 76 in rural Anderson. The deputy sent to investigate then located the second deceased person nearby. Sheriff’s detectives and forensic personnel subsequently processed the heavily wooded scene and collected evidence.1
That sequence matters to the timeline. About 4 p.m. is when dispatch received the report—not an established time when the landowner first encountered the body, when the deputy found the second person, or when either body was recovered. The available account supplies an approximate starting point for the emergency response, not a precise clock for every discovery.
The site is private land off Beehive Lane in McDonald County. Early reporting described the location as near Dogwood Lane; the updated sheriff’s account refers to the missing couple’s property in the Dogwood Drive area. Investigators place the bodies in dense timber directly adjacent to that property. The road references describe the area, while the adjacent wooded land is the consequential location detail.31
The living dog was found near one of the deceased people. Officials have not established its ownership. Its presence is a confirmed detail of the scene, but it does not identify either person or establish a connection to the Lindemans. The announcement also gives no basis for treating the animal’s presence as an explanation of what happened.1
The missing couple and pending identification
Leo Lindeman, 73, and Katherine Lindeman, 74, were last seen near the area on September 15, according to the initial local account. They were reported missing September 24. Their disappearance explains the attention on a discovery so close to their property, but the location alone cannot resolve the missing-person case.112
Some coverage has gone further than the formal announcement. KTUL and NewsNation have reported that the bodies were those of the missing couple. The sheriff’s office announcement reproduced by KY3, however, leaves both identities pending. Those accounts should not be treated as equivalent to completed formal identification; the official finding remains outstanding in the available record.491
The distinction is consequential rather than merely procedural. Naming the deceased would establish whether this discovery answers the central question in the Lindemans’ disappearance. Until that happens, the two confirmed deaths and the nearby missing-person case remain linked by geography, not by a released identification.

- Neither identity nor a cause or manner of death has been formally established. The dog’s ownership is also unconfirmed.

- Formal identification is expected later this week after autopsies and confirmation by the coroner and medical examiner; no specific day has been announced.
The McDonald County Sheriff’s Office continues to describe its work as a death investigation. No released cause or manner of death establishes whether another person was involved or whether a crime occurred. Two bodies at one wooded scene warrant investigation; they do not, by themselves, establish a homicide. The next consequential development is a confirmed identification—not another inference from the location.1
