0:07An earthquake near Gadung struck about six hundred and seven kilometers below the0:10surface.0:11The magnitude four point nine earthquake's unusually deep origin generally means0:15less surface shaking than a similar shallow earthquake.0:18But depth alone can't tell people nearby what happened where they live.0:21How much shaking reached nearby communities, and did it cause any harm?0:25The epicentry lies forty, one kilometers west, southwest of Gadung in the0:29Philippines.0:29That's the point on the surface directly above the earthquake's underground source.0:33The forty one kilometer offset describes its position relative to Gaddung, while the0:37depth measures how far below the surface it began.0:40The earthquake happened at about seven twenty-five Sunday morning, November eighth.0:44Its calculated location, magnitude, and depth have been reviewed.0:47That review concerns the earthquake itself.0:49Assessing conditions in nearby communities requires observations of what happened at0:53the surface.0:54The earthquake began about six hundred and seven kilometers down.0:57Deep, focus earthquakes occur between three hundred and seven hundred kilometers1:00below the surface, placing this event well inside that range.1:03Shaking weakens as it travels away from the source.1:06The listed magnitude is four point nine.1:08Magnitude describes the earthquake size, while intensity describes the shaking1:12experienced at a particular place.1:14A magnitude and a depth can't supply that local observation.1:18An earthquake five hundred kilometers deep generally produces considerably less1:22surface shaking than the same event twenty kilometers deep.1:25That comparison explains why depth matters here.1:27Measuring this earthquake's local intensity still requires observations of shaking1:31at the surface.1:32The earthquake's felt report count is blank.1:34Its community and instrumental intensity fields are blank too.1:38These are missing measurements, so they can't tell us whether people felt the1:41earthquake or how strongly the ground shook.1:43The catalog lists no Pager alert level and a tsunami flag of zero.1:47Pager models population exposure to shaking and estimates deaths and economic1:51losses.1:52A blank alert gives no casualty or damage assessment.1:54The tsunami field provides no event-specific Philippine advisory.1:58The earthquake's great depth generally points toward less surface shaking than a2:02comparable shallow event.2:03How strongly nearby communities felt this earthquake, and whether it caused damage2:07or injuries remains unknown.مقاله را بخوانیدخط زمانی داستانHeyDex
