بلایای طبیعی · Wild River FireWhite Mountains wildfire: Wild River reaches 982 acres, public access closedمکتوب ۱۴ آبان ۱۴۰۵ ساعت ۸:۴۷ (UTC)متن پیادهشده0:07The Wild River fire has more than tripled in size, forcing a public access closure.0:12On November3, we reported Monday's estimate of about three hundred acres.0:17The fire now covers nine hundred and eighty-two acres, with containment still at0:22eleven percent.0:24Visitors are barred from a defined forest area.0:27A road and several trails.0:29Can the expanded response stop further spread across terrain?0:33Firefighters can barely reach.0:36The fire is about seven miles southeast of Gorham and one mile west of the main0:41border.0:41It's in the Wild River drainage, near Evans Notch, south of Gilead and U.S.0:47Route2.0:47The fire is on the Androscoggin Ranger District in New Hampshire's Coos County.0:52Firefighters first received a report of it Sunday afternoon, November one.0:57Its proximity to Maine doesn't tell us how much land, if any, has burned across the1:01border.1:02The November4 total of nine hundred and eighty-two acres replaces the earlier three1:06seventy-eight acre estimate.1:08And gives a more precise size than Wednesday's rounded one thousand acres.1:12The alert available early November5 repeats nine hundred and eighty-two acres and1:17eleven percent containment.1:19That's about six hundred and eighty-two acres above Monday's approximate estimate.1:23The older two eighty-eight-acre tracking entry we discussed previously still hasn't1:28been reconciled with that Monday estimate.1:31Those earlier figures didn't demonstrate that the Burton footprint had shrunk.1:35Firefighters have had to cross the Wild River on foot to reach the fire.1:40A Forest Service road, heavily damaged three years ago, makes access harder.1:45Helicopters are dropping water where ground crews can't readily reach.1:51Persistent drought has dried the leaf litter that's helping the fire spread.1:56Deadfall wood, standing dead trees, spruce and fir provide more fuel.2:02Steep slopes restrict where crews can move, and how they can attack the flames.2:07The response now includes eighty-nine personnel.2:10Three helicopters and two agency drones.2:13Two helicopters are type two aircraft, and one is type one.2:17More resources are on the way to help crews limit further spread.2:21Monday afternoon's deployment had been more than forty people.2:25Earlier Wednesday, it was more than fifty, with two helicopters and one drone.2:30The latest alert rounds staffing to about ninety, consistent with the eighty-nine2:35assigned Wednesday.2:36Crews are pursuing full suppression, trying to hold the fire within its current2:40footprint.2:41Containment measures how much of the perimeter is secured.2:44Eleven percent containment doesn't mean that only eleven percent of the land has2:49stopped burning.2:50Forest Service spokesperson Jessie Dubuque calls this the largest fire since the2:55National Forest was incorporated.2:57That's her assessment of the forest's history.3:00The scale adds to a suppression operation already constrained by difficult access3:04and dry fuel.3:05Investigators now believe the fire was human-caused.3:09But they're still working to determine the specific cause.3:12The Forest Service says there haven't been any recent prescribed fires in the3:16forest.3:16Its campfire safety reminders don't identify what started this fire.3:21The closure now carries legal force.3:23Forest Supervisor Derek Abargan signed it November4, barring public entry into the3:29specified area during suppression operations.3:32It runs through January1,2027 , unless the Forest Service rescinds it.3:37The order closes all of Wild River Road and all of Shelburne Trail.3:42It also closes three specified trail sections.3:45These restrictions give firefighters and emergency personnel room to work, and3:50protect people from entering the suppression area.3:53Highwater Trail is closed from Route133 to Shelburne Trail, about five point three3:58miles.3:58Candeskeek's closure runs from Shelburne to Rattle River Trail, about two point four4:03miles.4:04Corridor nineteen closes between Wild River Road and Rattle River Trail.4:09About ten miles, the area's legal boundary follows Wild River Road, Shelburne Trail,4:14the National Forest Boundary, and Corridor Nineteen.4:17The signed order and its attached map define that closure.4:21They describe where access is prohibited.4:23Rather than measuring the fire's burned footprint, authorized permit holders and4:28people specifically exempted in writing can enter.4:30Officers, organized rescuers, and firefighters performing official duties are also4:36exempt.4:37The order supersedes earlier restrictions covering the same acts and area.4:41It also adds fire-specific restrictions beyond the older storm damage closure4:46affecting campground access.4:48Violators face a Class B misdemeanor.4:51Maximum fines are five thousand dollars for individuals or ten thousand dollars for4:55organizations.4:57A conviction can also bring up to six months in jail.5:00Gorham Fire Chief Philip Cloutier says, There are no known residential properties in5:05the immediate fire area.5:07When he spoke Wednesday morning.5:09His department hadn't been asked to join the federally managed response.5:12Cloutier recalled a local wildfire just under one hundred acres more than twenty5:17years ago.5:18As the largest local officials could remember, his recollection covers local5:22experience, while Dubuque's assessment covers the national forest.5:27The Forest Service continues to say there are no significant threats to life or5:31property.5:32Smoke has nevertheless reached nearby communities.5:35Clutier described Hayes and the smell of wildfire in Gorham Tuesday, then said he5:40couldn't smell smoke early Wednesday.5:42Smoke may still be visible around surrounding communities.5:45Drivers who encounter it should slow down and use headlights.5:48The Forest Service asks people to keep personal drones away from the incident, where5:54they could interfere with the response.5:56A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November5,6:00from six to seven in the evening at Shelburne Town Hall.6:04People can also join online through Microsoft Teams.6:07The town hall is at seventy-four Village Road.6:10Crews are still working to secure the larger fire.6:13The latest acreage remains nine hundred and eighty-two, and containment remains6:17eleven percent.6:19Whether the expanded response can hold that footprint is still unresolved.6:23Public entry into the specified forest area, road and trails remains prohibited6:29under the closure order.مقاله را بخوانیدخط زمانی داستانHeyDex
