Four drinks alleged, no DWI charge: The unanswered question in Wilson’s fatal e-bike case
An affidavit describes four drinks and several signs of possible impairment before and after a collision that killed two e-bike riders. The blood-test results remain outside the public court file, and the charging question is unresolved.

- Four Twisted Teas. That is what Collin McLaughlin allegedly told investigators he had consumed before the collision that killed two people riding an e-bike in Wilson, North Carolina. The admission, described in an affidavit obtained by WRAL, now sits alongside investigators’ accounts of an alcohol odor, glassy eyes, two positive preliminary breath readings and clues of possible impairment during field sobriety tests. Yet McLaughlin has not been charged with driving while impaired.
