Coroner records confirm the identities and November 6 deaths of two experienced skydivers training toward a women's formation record. Why their parachutes became entangled on landing approach remains unresolved.
How did two experienced skydivers, with their parachutes already open, become entangled so close to the ground? Official records now establish who died in the Skydive Elsinore collision and exactly when their injuries and deaths were recorded. They do not yet answer the central question about the landing approach.3031
The women were Levi Pimentel, 29, of Aurora, Illinois, and Georgia Jean, 56, of Box Elder, South Dakota. Both died on November 6, 2026, at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar after being injured in a dirt field in Lake Elsinore, California. The Riverside County coroner notices confirm that their families have been notified.3031
On November 8, HeyDay News reported that two licensed, experienced visitors had died after colliding during their approach to land at Skydive Elsinore. We did not identify them because their names had not then been checked against coroner records. That verification is now complete: the notices, posted November 7, independently establish their identities and record November 6 as both the injury and death date.3031
The gathering also had a clearer sporting purpose than our earlier report established. Participant Chazi Rutz told the Los Angeles Times that the group was training toward a California women's upright-formation record—a proposed 19-way formation, against an existing benchmark she described as 12-way. Those are the target and benchmark given by a participant, not confirmation that a record was completed or certified.8
A shared goal, then a landing emergency
In an upright formation, skydivers appear to be sitting in the air. The objective was a coordinated formation involving 19 women. Pimentel and Jean had traveled to California for the organized event; the operator described both as licensed and experienced. They were not first-time tandem customers.85
But the training objective and the fatal collision belong to different stages of the jump. Skydive Elsinore said the free fall and parachute openings were normal. Its account places the collision afterward, as the women prepared to land, about 150 feet above the ground. The collision entangled their parachutes, the company said, and both suffered critical injuries when they reached the ground.5
Rutz likewise described the women coming too close together after deployment, with their open parachutes becoming entangled. Her account supports the broad sequence described by the operator. It does not establish what maneuver either woman made, what either could see, who had right of way or why their paths converged. Nothing established so far shows that the formation training itself caused the accident.8
That distinction matters. “Training for a record” explains why the women were there. It is not an explanation of how they collided. Treating the ambition as the cause would substitute the most striking detail of the gathering for the missing evidence about the landing.
The height also remains an estimate. Our November 8 report flagged a conflicting account giving 15 meters rather than approximately 150 feet. The coroner notices contain no altitude measurement to resolve that difference. The 150-foot figure remains Skydive Elsinore's preliminary account, not a final measured finding.53031
What the official records establish
Deputies responding to an air-emergency report in the 20000 block of Cereal Street found both women on the ground receiving medical aid, according to the sheriff's account reported by the Los Angeles Times. They were taken by ambulance to hospital in critical condition. The coroner records now identify that hospital as Inland Valley Medical Center and make clear that both deaths occurred there, not at the field.863031
The times recorded by the coroner
- November 6, 2026, 11:45 a.m.3031
Both women were injured in a dirt field at 20701 Cereal Street in Lake Elsinore.
- November 6, 2026, 12:26 p.m.31
Georgia Jean's death was recorded at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
- November 6, 2026, 12:29 p.m.30
Levi Pimentel's death was recorded at the same hospital.
The recorded injury time is two minutes before the 11:47 a.m. deputy dispatch time we previously reported. Those are different events, not competing timestamps for the same action. Likewise, the differences between the listed injury and death times—41 minutes for Jean and 44 for Pimentel—are not ambulance journey times or independent measurements of survival.3031
Both notices name the Riverside County Sheriff's Office–Lake Elsinore as the investigating agency and carry the same investigation number, linking the deaths to one incident. Their official dates resolve our earlier uncertainty over whether November 6, 2026, was supported by an incident record rather than only by news publication dates.3031
The equipment question is still open
Skydive Elsinore said it found no evidence of equipment malfunction. That is the operator's preliminary assessment, not an investigative clearance of every component. A normal parachute opening does not rule out a later entanglement, and neither normal deployment nor the women's experience explains why they came together on approach.5
There is an announced investigative step: the sheriff's office said the Federal Aviation Administration had been notified and would collect the parachutes and investigate, according to ABC7 Chicago. Fox News subsequently described an FAA investigation as underway. Those accounts establish reported federal involvement, but they do not confirm that the parachutes have been collected or examined.63
No verified closure, suspension or reopening announcement has been established in this reporting. Nor has a completed record-attempt outcome been verified. The next consequential development is not another description of the group's ambition: it is evidence from the parachutes and flight sequence that can explain how two experienced women reached the final approach safely deployed, then became entangled before landing.

- Two female skydivers die after colliding in mid-air
Gaya ng isinahimpapawid
- Officials identified Levi Pimentel and Georgia Jean, the two women killed in the landing collision.
- On November 8, we reported that two licensed, experienced visitors had died at Skydive Elsinore. Their names weren't included then. Official death notices now identify both women, and a participant describes a shared goal of training toward a women's formation record.
- Investigators still need to explain how their paths crossed while they were approaching the ground with their parachutes open.
- Levi Pimentel was 29 and lived in Aurora, Illinois. Georgia Jean was 56 and lived in Box Elder, South Dakota. Both had traveled to Lake Elsinore, California, for the organized skydiving event. Their families have been notified.
- The coroner's office published the notices on November 7. Both link the women to the same incident and name the Riverside County Sheriff's Office in Lake Elsinore as the investigating agency. Pimentel was also reportedly listed on LinkedIn as a lead instructor at iFLY Naperville, an indoor skydiving company.
- Participant Chazi Rutz described the group's target as a 19-way upright formation, with 19 women participating. She described the existing benchmark as a 12-way formation. Those were the training goal and the benchmark she gave. The group was working toward a record.
- In an upright formation, the skydivers appear to be sitting in the air. The women were experienced participants working toward that collective goal. The emergency came later in the jump, during the approach to landing, after their parachutes had opened.
- Deputies found both women on the ground receiving medical aid after the air-emergency call. Ambulances took them to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar in critical condition. Both died there later that day, after being injured in a dirt field in Lake Elsinore.
- Skydive Elsinore described the free fall and parachute openings as normal. Its account places the collision close to the ground, as the women prepared to land. Rutz also described their open parachutes becoming entangled after they came too close together.
- Skydive Elsinore says the women collided about 150 feet above the ground. The company says that collision entangled their parachutes, and both suffered critical injuries when they reached the ground. That sequence places the emergency after deployment, on the approach to landing.
- The height remains an estimate. Skydive Elsinore gives about 150 feet, while an earlier account gave 15 meters. The coroner notices provide no altitude measurement to resolve that difference. The training objective also doesn't explain why the women's flight paths converged.
- Both notices record the injuries at 11:45 a.m. on November 6. Georgia Jean's recorded death came 41 minutes later, and Levi Pimentel's came 44 minutes later. Those intervals are differences between listed times. They don't measure the ambulance journey.
- The recorded injury time is two minutes before the deputy dispatch time we reported earlier. Both notices confirm November 6 as the date of injury and death. Their shared investigation links the deaths, but investigators still have to determine what brought the women together in the air.
- The word “Final” appears on both coroner notices as their status. Those notices identify the women and record where and when they died. The sheriff's investigation into the collision continues, and the notices contain no equipment determination or finding of responsibility.
- Skydive Elsinore says it found no evidence of equipment malfunction. That's the operator's preliminary assessment. The sheriff's office says the Federal Aviation Administration was notified and would collect the parachutes and investigate. Officials haven't confirmed that the parachutes have been collected or examined.
- The women's identities and the accident date are now confirmed. The landing sequence still rests on the operator's and participant's descriptions. Why two experienced skydivers became entangled after their parachutes opened, and whether equipment contributed, remains unresolved.
