A Toyota Prius struck Brookfield Fire Department Tanker 1 as it protected responders at an earlier I-89 crash, seriously injuring the driver, who was flown for emergency treatment; the tanker was totaled. The investigation has not established whether inadequate warning caused the crash, and the driver's condition and treatment and the crash response and roadway clearance remain unresolved in the available report, aired October 29, 2026.
