  1. A scene report from fire-rescue or an investigative update from the sheriff’s office would be needed to establish what happened and whether anyone required help.

Subsequent scene reporting and the detailed rescue account establish that a helicopter crashed and people required help: two adults were rescued from the water and transported for trauma care. WPEC’s updated account, citing the Coast Guard, also reports one person killed.12

Two people were pulled alive from the water off Key Biscayne after a helicopter crashed near Nixon Beach on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. But the rescue ended with a death as well: one person was killed, according to an updated CBS12/WPEC report citing the U.S. Coast Guard. The two injured survivors were transferred by ground crews and then air rescue for trauma care. Their current conditions remain unknown.12

The reported fatality replaces the earlier description of a third person as only believed dead. It also marks a substantial change from our earlier November 4 broadcast, when we reported that emergency crews were heading to a possible helicopter crash in the Biscayne Bay area near Key Biscayne. At that point, we had not established that a crash had occurred or whether anyone had been rescued or hurt. Fire-rescue officials initially said it was unclear what had happened.3

The location is now more specific: water near Nixon Beach, off the 1200 block of Crandon Boulevard, southwest of Key Biscayne. WSVN’s aerial crew spotted a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boat near the helicopter’s yellow emergency floats. Divers were also seen in the water near the wreckage. Those observations establish where crews were working, not a surveyed point of impact.12

Later aerial images showed a yellow tarp covering the person initially believed to have died. That image was part of the early scene account; the stronger basis for reporting a death is the subsequent WPEC update attributing the fatality to the Coast Guard. The older, tentative wording should not obscure that change.1

From the water to trauma care

The rescue account now goes beyond the early expectation that the survivors would be taken to a nearby hospital. Fox News carried an official response account reported by NBC Miami describing an actual transfer involving three fire-rescue agencies. City of Miami Fire Rescue and Key Biscayne Fire Rescue ground units took two adult trauma-alert patients to a designated landing zone. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Air Rescue then flew them to the main trauma center.2

That establishes that both adults were brought out of the water and moved through a ground-to-air evacuation for urgent trauma care. It does not establish their diagnoses, the severity of their injuries or their prognosis. The detailed transport account does not name the receiving hospital.2

Authorities also reported three patients in total, according to the account quoted by Fox. That is not a count of three survivors. Nor does the patient count, by itself, independently establish the total number of people aboard the helicopter. The available reporting has not resolved whether everyone aboard has been accounted for.2

A late-morning crash, an unsettled minute

The broad timing is clear enough to describe a late-morning emergency, but the precise minute of impact is not settled. WPEC’s updated November 4 account gives approximately 11:30 a.m., attributing that estimate to the Coast Guard. Fox’s November 4 report, citing WSVN, places the crash shortly after 11 a.m. Earlier WPEC reporting used just after 11:50 a.m., a time also associated with the aerial observation of the rescue boat and floats.12

Separate reporting by Univision and Infobae puts the emergency call or response at 11:26 a.m. A call time, an approximate crash time and the time a news crew sees the scene measure different things. They should not be collapsed into a single exact impact time that the reporting cannot support.2823

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation, officials told WPEC. No cause has been released. The available evidence also does not establish the aircraft’s registration, make or model, operator, or flight itinerary, and the identities of those involved have not been established in these reports. The visible yellow floats do not answer those questions.12

Divers’ presence likewise does not establish that additional people were missing. The last reported uncertainty about complete occupant accounting remains unresolved; there is no verified later search-status finding here that closes it. For now, the most consequential missing information is the survivors’ condition, whether everyone aboard is accounted for, and what brought the helicopter down—not whether an emergency happened at all.2

Sesuai tayangan
  1. A helicopter crashed into the water, killing one person and injuring two.
  2. On November 4, we reported emergency crews were heading to a possible helicopter crash near Key Biscayne. Two people have now been rescued from the water and transferred to a trauma center. The Coast Guard says a third person died.
  3. Investigators still have to determine what brought the helicopter down and whether everyone aboard has been accounted for.
  4. The helicopter went down near Nixon Beach, off Crandon Boulevard, southwest of Key Biscayne. Emergency crews reached a scene much more specific than the broad Biscayne Bay area where they were first sent.
  5. The death changes the casualty picture. The person who died was initially described as only believed dead. The Coast Guard now says one person was killed, while the two people brought out of the water survived with injuries.
  6. Emergency crews reported three patients in all, including the two injured adults rescued from the water. Those adults needed trauma care. Their current conditions and the severity of their injuries are still unknown.
  7. The rescue effort involved crews on the water, ground rescue units and an air-rescue team. Divers also worked near the wreckage.
  8. A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boat was near the helicopter's yellow emergency floats, off the 1200 block of Crandon Boulevard. Divers were in the water nearby. A yellow tarp later covered the person initially believed dead.
  9. The two survivors made an actual ground-to-air transfer to the trauma center. City of Miami Fire Rescue and Key Biscayne Fire Rescue ground units took both adults to a designated landing zone.
  10. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Air Rescue then flew the two adult trauma-alert patients from that landing zone to the main trauma center. Both had been flagged for urgent trauma care, but their diagnoses haven't been made public.
  11. The emergency happened late in the morning, but the exact minute of impact is still unclear.
  12. The Coast Guard puts the crash at about eleven thirty that morning. Earlier timings ranged from shortly after eleven to just after eleven fifty. That later time also appeared in descriptions of when a rescue boat and the floats were spotted.
  13. The emergency call or response was separately placed at eleven twenty-six. A call time and an approximate crash time measure different things, so the precise moment the helicopter hit the water hasn't been settled.
  14. The aircraft's identity and flight details are still unknown. Investigators also haven't said whether everyone aboard has been accounted for. The three-patient count alone doesn't settle how many people were on the helicopter.
  15. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation. No cause of the crash has been released.
