Two deaths reported in Oliva as floods force thousands to evacuate
Thousands were evacuated and elderly residents trapped in waist-deep water. Two newly reported Oliva deaths bring eastern Spain’s storm-associated toll to four, but the causes remain unresolved.
Wat er veranderde
- The latest late-Monday shelter account still left 87,000 residents in eight municipalities under orders.
Toen nog open
- The latest reporting does not establish whether the earlier red warning downgraded at its stated 10 a.m. deadline, whether suspended rail routes and Ibiza airport access reopened, or the final school-closure totals.
- The precise Sagunto recovery location, the earlier one-incident discrepancy in Valencia’s provincial breakdown and independent official records for the earlier Barx and Pego rainfall figures remain unresolved.
Waar we op zouden letten
- A dated official accounting should distinguish deaths caused by flooding from deaths during the emergency, reconcile rescue and evacuation totals, and establish when the remaining restrictions ended.
