Laboratory coral color recovery experiment
Stand van zaken
In a laboratory experiment, bleached coral regained its color after contact with a healthy genetic match, becoming visually indistinguishable from its neighbor over nine weeks. The method’s stated limitation is that it requires genetically matched corals; the nine-week observation’s conclusion is not yet reported.
We letten op: Any fuller experimental documentation or announced follow-up clarifying species, replication, durable recovery and whether field testing is planned.

Update 1
A healthy clone helped bleached coral recover. Can the connection help reefs?
A tiny tissue bridge let beneficial algae move from healthy coral into bleached clones. The laboratory result is promising, but compatibility and lasting recovery remain central challenges.
