- A vehicle-fire response near Marseille became a shooting scene, then a police standoff. Now, after a suspect’s arrest on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the central question is how those events fit together: whether the man suspected of shooting a firefighter commander also started the blaze, and why. The commander was very seriously wounded; his longer-term medical outlook has not been established.
