Missing man found dead in locked car outside Kajang supermarket
Dostępne po angielsku
The engine was off. The doors were locked from inside. In the driver's seat of a Perodua Axia outside a Kajang supermarket was a man whose family had been trying, repeatedly and without success, to reach his mobile phone.1
He was pronounced dead there after emergency responders opened the car. The discovery ended his family's search for his whereabouts, which had also circulated on social media. It did not explain what had happened to him: a postmortem examination was still being described as forthcoming in reports published on October 24.11516
Passers-by spotted a motionless figure inside the stationary vehicle and alerted authorities at 11:29pm on October 23. The car was in a supermarket parking area on Jalan Impian Mahkota, with some reporting giving the more specific location as Jalan Impian Mahkota 1. The supermarket has not been identified in the reports reviewed.113
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the man was believed to be in his 50s. His account placed him in the driver's seat when officers arrived. Police called on the Fire and Rescue Department to help open the locked doors; medical personnel from Hospital Kajang then examined him and confirmed his death at the scene.1
A search with an uncertain timeline
According to Naazron's account, reported by Malay Mail and carried by Yahoo, the family lodged a missing-person report on Tuesday, October 20, after repeated calls to the man's mobile phone went unanswered. That report is an established point in the family's search; it does not, by itself, settle when he was last seen.1
Reports published on October 24 differ over the length of his disappearance. Malay Mail, the New Straits Times and 8TV describe five days, while Utusan and Red Ping describe four. The difference has not been reconciled, so neither duration should be treated as a settled account of his movements.21216317
More importantly, the missing period is not an established measure of how long he had been dead or how long the Axia had been parked outside the supermarket. Police have not supplied either interval. The precise 11:29pm alert time records when authorities were notified, not when the man died.11516
Malay Mail also reported that the car was found approximately 15 minutes from his residence. That is a travel-time estimate, not a measured distance, and the report does not specify the means of travel. The other accounts reviewed do not independently establish that particular estimate. It offers only a limited sense of proximity, not an explanation of how he came to be there.1
Images circulated online showing police vehicles and fire-rescue trucks around the car in the supermarket parking area. Those images documented the emergency response. They did not establish the circumstances leading to the death.1
What the police finding establishes
Preliminary investigations have so far found no foul play at the scene or on the deceased. The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).
Both parts of that statement matter. Police reported no initial signs of foul play, but they did not announce a final explanation. Naazron said further investigations were continuing to determine the cause of the incident and the man's death. A sudden-death classification describes the investigation's status; it is not a medical diagnosis.1
For the family, one uncertainty has ended in a death confirmed at the scene. The remaining questions—what caused it and when it happened—cannot be answered by the locked doors, the unanswered phone or the absence of initial signs of foul play. Those details are the starting evidence, not the conclusion.
