Where it stands

San Francisco issued a public-health warning to the public and health-care providers after testing found undisclosed MGM-15 in a supplement marketed as cat’s claw, following the late-September death of a 37-year-old man. The medical examiner ruled the death accidental from toxic effects of kratom alkaloids; the investigation and immediate public-health response remain open.
