The body was recovered Thursday morning near the Lake of the Ozarks. We are also correcting our earlier description of injuries to the two survivors.

One person is dead and two others survived unharmed after all three went overboard from a bass boat at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks. The missing occupant’s body was found at 11:28 a.m. Thursday, November 5, ending a search that began after the three adults entered the water the previous day.110

KRCG reports that the Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered the body, which was subsequently released to a funeral home. Its account does not identify the person who died or explain how all three occupants came to be in the water.1

The recovery changes the central finding of our November 5 broadcast. We reported then that crews were still searching for the third occupant. Other local accounts had described a drowning, but a reported death did not establish that the body had been found. KRCG’s Thursday report now documents that recovery.231

A correction on the survivors

Our November 5 broadcast also said the two rescued occupants had been taken for treatment of injuries. That description should not have been presented as established fact. KRCG’s recovery report says both people were rescued and were not hurt. That agrees with LakeExpo’s description of rescue “without injury” and KMBC’s account that the survivors were “unharmed.” We are correcting the earlier injury claim.1103

The supported outcome is two people rescued unharmed, not two confirmed injury patients. Whether either survivor received a precautionary medical evaluation is a separate question that these accounts do not settle. An evaluation would not, by itself, establish an injury; the earlier treatment description should not be used to imply one.

This is more than a change in wording. The condition of the people who survived is part of the incident’s human toll, and the accounts now supporting that condition are consistent. The uncertainty that remains concerns how the incident happened—not whether the available reporting substantiates our earlier injury description.1310

What remains unexplained on the lake

The incident happened Wednesday, November 4, 2026, near the main channel’s 7-mile marker, in the vicinity of Gravois Arm. LakeExpo describes the three occupants as adults. Their names and exact ages are not established in the available reporting, and KRCG’s recovery account supplies no identification of the deceased.1031

The later accounts consistently place the incident near mile marker 7, replacing the early approximate description around mile marker 6. That is the best-supported general location, not an exact position. It also should not be read as a statement of precisely where divers eventually found the body.1103

There is still no verified explanation for why all three adults left the bass boat. Accounts describing them as having fallen or been ejected establish that they entered the water, not the mechanism. They do not establish a collision, a capsize, a particular maneuver or an equipment failure, and they provide no basis for assigning responsibility.103

The timing has similar limits. The incident date is established, and KRCG gives 11:28 a.m. Thursday as the recovery time. That is a local recovery time—not the time of Wednesday’s incident, an emergency call or a dispatch. No exact time for those earlier events has been established in the available accounts.1103

Divers were called in to find the third occupant, KRCG reports. Our earlier broadcast also described water patrol officers, specialized dive teams, sonar and search vessels. The recovery confirms that the body was located; it does not independently verify every equipment detail in that earlier description.1

The recovery account names the Patrol as the recovering agency, but an incident-specific official report has not been independently confirmed. For now, the search has an established outcome while the incident itself remains unexplained: two occupants survived unharmed, and the third was recovered dead the following morning.1
