Perfume’s Nocchi announces marriage to actor Kento Shibuya

Nocchi’s agency, Amuse, made the confirmation in a statement accompanying her own message to supporters. “We hereby announce that our artist Nocchi (Perfume) has married actor Kento Shibuya,” it said, in translation. The agency asked fans to continue watching over and supporting her warmly.⁠16

Shibuya’s agency, Players Agency, also explicitly named Nocchi as his spouse. Its statement, reproduced by Modelpress, acknowledged the unexpected announcement and asked for continued warmth and support. This is a marriage confirmed by both sides, rather than a relationship report awaiting a response from the performers.⁠1

One date needs to be kept straight. November 8 is the date of the announcement and the signatures on Amuse’s statement and Nocchi’s message. The wording says the couple have already married; it does not specify when they registered their marriage or whether or when they held a wedding. It should not be read as their wedding date.⁠16

Nocchi’s accompanying statement offers gratitude rather than the story of the couple’s relationship. She announces that she has married, then turns to the people who have supported her. Neither the agency announcements nor her message establishes how the couple met or how long they were together.⁠1

Nocchi, also known as Ayano Omoto, comes from Hiroshima Prefecture and was born on September 20, 1988. As a member of the three-person techno-pop group Perfume, she made her major-label debut in 2005. The group’s breakthrough followed with the single “Polyrhythm” in 2007.⁠1⁠39

Shibuya was born on April 23, 1988, and comes from Kanagawa Prefecture. He began working as a child actor at eight and took his first starring television role in the NHK drama “Docchi ga Docchi!” in 2002. His screen career has continued across historical and contemporary drama.⁠1⁠46

His recent credits include NHK’s historical drama “Toyotomi Brothers!” and Yomiuri TV’s “Smoke Blue no Ame Nochi Hare.” The announcement thus brings together two performers with long public careers, while leaving the private history of their relationship outside the account they have chosen to share.⁠1

For Perfume, the immediate context is a pause following major anniversaries.
