Privacy policy

You can read the news without an account. If you sign in, we use your email address to verify your identity and send sign-in codes.

We store an account identifier, the name you choose, your saved reports and followed stories, and the sessions that keep you signed in. Amazon Web Services provides our account, email and preference storage services.

The app keeps its session in your device’s secure storage. The website and HeyDex use cookies to keep you signed in. We use limited, hashed sign-in request information to prevent abuse.

On your device. HeyDex runs on your device. Your conversations, research, searches, files you provide and the work the assistant produces for you are kept in your browser’s storage for heyday.news, or in the app on your phone, and not on our servers. They are kept separately for each account that signs in on that device.

To answer you. HeyDex sends your messages, attachments and relevant conversation context through heyday.news to our model service, which sends them to OpenAI through OpenRouter, the AI providers that write HeyDex’s answers. In the app, HeyDex asks before it sends anything, and Settings stops the sharing.

Your documents. To make your own documents searchable, HeyDex sends their text through heyday.news to our own embedding model, which no outside provider runs.

Websites. Requests HeyDex makes to external websites from the website pass through our network service on Cloudflare. Do not submit information you do not want processed for that work.

Allowance. For each account we keep what its HeyDex model requests cost in each calendar month, to hold every reader to the same monthly allowance. Findings you choose to send to HeyDay News go to our newsroom, and you can take them back.

Videos use YouTube’s embedded player in privacy-enhanced mode. Loading and playing a video sends information to Google, including network and device information and interactions with the player. YouTube may show non-personalized advertising. See Google’s Privacy Policy and YouTube’s description of privacy-enhanced playback.

Links that open other websites or apps are governed by those services’ privacy policies.

We use account information to provide the features you request and protect the service from abuse. We do not sell reader information or use it for behavioral advertising. HeyDex’s own usage-event collector discards its events rather than sending them to an analytics service.

Your account is kept until you delete it. HeyDex research stays on your device until you clear its storage for heyday.news or remove the app.

You can change your name, remove saved reports or follows, and sign out in the app’s Settings or your website account. Settings also offers Delete account.

Deletion revokes sessions and removes your sign-in, profile, saved reports, followed stories and the record of your HeyDex spend. HeyDex research on your devices is not on our servers: remove it by clearing your browser’s storage for heyday.news or removing the app.
