- Jennifer Balcarras and her daughter, Selah Reed, set out for what their family expected to be a short afternoon walk near Bella Coola, British Columbia. They knew the trail, roughly a five-minute drive from home. Balcarras, 48, was an art therapist and mother of four; Reed worked as an education assistant and studied online through Athabasca University. Relatives described a shared love of art and hiking. Neither woman returned.
