上市母公司GMO Internet Group(代码9449,并非Desktop Cloud运营方的4784)股价于10月26日收于¥3,179,下跌¥590,约16%。
- GMO is offering five thousand yen to service users even if they lost no money. Customers whose trading accounts were manipulated also face a separate question about recovering their losses. The parent company's shares have fallen about sixteen percent. How much qualifying trading loss will GMO repay, and when will customers receive the money?
- The five thousand yen, about thirty-two US dollars, goes to users of Onamae.com Desktop Cloud. That includes users without financial damage. GMO has separately promised compensation for qualifying losses from unauthorized trading connected to the intrusion.
- Desktop Cloud supplies a virtual private server, a remotely hosted computer that customers use to run automated foreign-exchange trading tools. GMO Internet operates it. The goodwill offer covers users of that service. Customers across the group's other foreign-exchange businesses don't automatically qualify. The exact eligibility cutoff still needs clarification.
- GMO found unauthorized programs in some customers' server environments on October twentieth. It formally announced compensation on October twenty-fourth. Group chief executive Masatoshi Kumagai publicized the response in a blog the following day, after the payment promise was already public.
- The company issued earlier incident announcements on October twenty-first and twenty-second, followed by a third report on the twenty-third. A fourth followed on the twenty-fourth. Unauthorized third-party access to Desktop Cloud is confirmed. The October twentieth discovery doesn't tell customers when the intrusion began. Unauthorized operations involving trading accounts were also reported.
- Kumagai described the goodwill payment as an initial gesture of good faith. He said it recognized customers' inconvenience and worry, and rejected treating it as closure. His response left the separate commitment to compensate unauthorized-trading losses in place.
- GMO Gaika said on October twenty-third that it had received reports involving trading tools running on Desktop Cloud. But it hadn't confirmed related unauthorized operations in its own customers' accounts. Its October twenty-sixth notice maintained that position. That narrower statement leaves other customers' experiences and compensation claims to be assessed.
- GMO told customers to urgently change passwords for their trading accounts and trading tools. It also told them to terminate logged-in sessions. Customers were instructed to make those changes from a different device, with a smartphone given as an example.
- GMO Gaika also urged customers to check their passkey settings and review trade and order histories, open positions and balances. It said its service prohibited external automated trading tools and programs. Those instructions were issued during the incident response. They don't confirm that the intrusion has been contained.
- The listed parent's shares fell sharply in Tokyo. That's GMO Internet Group, which trades under code nine-four-four-nine. The Desktop Cloud operator, GMO Internet, is a separate listed subsidiary. Its stock code is four-seven-eight-four.
- The parent's decline deepened through the October twenty-sixth session. An eleven-percent morning fall was an early snapshot of a day that ended substantially lower. Assigning that move to the subsidiary would confuse two different stocks, just as treating the morning figure as the closing result would miss the later selling.
- The parent traded as low as three thousand three hundred fifty-one yen in the morning, down eleven point zero nine percent. It closed at three thousand one hundred seventy-nine yen, down five hundred ninety yen, or about sixteen percent.
- Investors faced uncertainty about how goodwill payments and trading-loss compensation would affect earnings. That concern accompanied the selling, without explaining every trade. The reimbursement commitment concerns actual qualifying losses, with refunds already paid by the trading venue deducted. GMO still needs to clarify how it will assess claims and calculate each customer's payment.
- GMO hasn't provided a verified total for compromised accounts, qualifying losses or the overall compensation bill. Goodwill recipients include people who lost no money. Counting everyone eligible for five thousand yen would therefore give a different population from the customers seeking trading-loss reimbursement.
- Users were promised an email by October thirtieth explaining how to receive the goodwill payment and when it would be paid. That deadline concerns instructions. GMO hasn't confirmed when either the goodwill money or loss reimbursement will reach customers' accounts.
