  5. Trees snapped and landed on homes. Vehicles were damaged, and fencing at a commercial property was hit. One resident's recreational vehicle was destroyed, leaving him without his home. The damage count also represents people needing somewhere safe to live while they work out what can be repaired.
  6. One homeowner found a tree on his house and debris scattered across his property. Resident Paul Kulas had a truck pinned beneath a tree. Residents began cutting and clearing debris Thursday while emergency crews continued checking the surrounding damage.
  7. The Navajo County Sheriff's Office says one person was taken to a hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries. That gives a specific treatment detail beyond the earlier description of minor injuries. The final community-wide injury count still isn't clear, including anyone treated without being taken to a hospital.
  8. Calls about a possible tornado touchdown began around 7:15 Wednesday evening. About a hundred to a hundred ten emergency personnel responded that night. At least fifty continued assessing damage and helping residents Thursday.
  9. About a dozen people were at a prayer meeting when the storm reached Overgaard Baptist Church. Members sheltered together in the women's restroom and were reported okay. Outside, a large falling tree pulled up concrete, and the building and surrounding property sustained damage.
  10. The church's damage included trees, signs, fences and windows. Pastor Eric Woods said the roof would be the costliest part of the repairs. The people who sheltered there now face a substantial bill to put the property back together.
  11. Woods estimates repairs at about seventy-five thousand dollars. He expects the church to pay about twenty thousand dollars out of pocket. Those are estimates, with the work still ahead, and they describe this church's costs alone.
  12. A reception center for displaced residents opened at the Navajo County Heber Complex. The Red Cross also set up a shelter in the gymnasium at Capps Elementary School. School staff served meals there Thursday.
  13. Those openings provided immediate support while residents started cleanup. Friday operating hours for the two sites aren't clear, so the initial openings shouldn't be taken as current directions to an available shelter.
  14. Navopache Electric Cooperative confirmed a widespread outage Wednesday night and said crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible. That promise gave residents no completion deadline. We don't yet know when electricity was fully restored locally.
  15. A National Weather Service meteorologist said the storm likely produced a tornado. A tornado warning was in effect during the episode. The official damage survey still needs to settle the classification and strength of the winds.
  16. An earlier warning described a storm capable of producing a tornado nineteen miles west of Heber-Overgaard. That placed the threat upstream before the damage reports. It doesn't tell us exactly how much warning people at the damaged properties received, or precisely when the damaging winds reached them.
