- A rollover threw four teenagers from an SUV and killed one occupant.
- All five people inside were between fourteen and eighteen. The four survivors suffered serious injuries in Lincoln County, Nebraska. Investigators are working to determine how the driver lost control and what role speed played.
- The crash happened on West South River Road, about three-quarters of a mile west of South Buffalo Road. That's near North Platte. The SUV crashed around one in the afternoon on October twenty-second, twenty twenty-six.
- The five teenagers were traveling west in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says the driver lost control while negotiating a curve.
- The Trailblazer went into the ditch on the south side of the road and rolled multiple times. Four people were thrown out during the rollover. Deputies arrived and began helping the injured occupants.
- Four of the five occupants were ejected. The sheriff's office says the driver was wearing a seat belt and stayed inside the SUV. All five occupants needed hospital treatment.
- North Platte Fire transported all five to Great Plains Health. One male occupant arrived with life-threatening injuries and later died. The four survivors had serious injuries and were described as stable on October twenty-third.
- The sheriff's office was then told that the male occupant had died from his injuries. The time it recorded marks when the office learned of his death.
- The sheriff's office says speed was a factor in the crash. It also said alcohol wasn't believed to be involved. Accident reconstructionists were still investigating on October twenty-third.
- Investigators haven't given a numerical speed or explained how speed contributed to the driver losing control. Reconstructionists are examining that loss of control and the role of speed.
