  1. Flames destroyed a house under construction and spread to two neighbouring homes.
  2. Five residents have been forced out, and police say no injuries have been reported. What caused the fire, and when those residents can return, are still unresolved.
  3. The two-alarm fire struck Daleberry Place in Toronto's North York district early Friday, November sixth. The construction property sits near York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue, where the overnight emergency reached the homes on either side.
  4. Five residents were displaced from the two neighbouring homes. Two lived in one house, and three in the other. Nearby residences were evacuated as the flames grew and spread beyond the construction property.
  5. Fire commander Robert Hewson said the house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. No one was reported to be inside the property under construction. Crews faced a fire that was already consuming the building.
  6. Firefighters fought from outside and used aerial equipment to apply water from above. They worked to contain the blaze as it spread to the neighbouring houses. Both of those homes sustained damage.
  7. One home under construction was destroyed, and two neighbouring homes were damaged. One neighbouring homeowner said he'd been told his house was a write-off. He described extensive water damage, adding to the consequences for residents forced out.
  8. Firefighters were called around 2 a.m., close to the estimated start of the fire. Police were called just after 2. By 7:30 a.m., crews had knocked down the bulk of the flames, but stayed to contain hot spots.
  9. That morning's progress left crews with pockets of fire still to deal with. The five displaced residents also faced damage to their homes, including the extensive water damage described by one homeowner.
  10. Investigators were beginning their work, and the cause was still undetermined. The Office of the Fire Marshal hadn't been called in at that stage. There's no confirmed date for the displaced residents to return home.
