- A shooting killed two adults outside an Amazon facility. Police believe it was a murder-suicide, and say there's no ongoing public threat. Investigators are still working out what led to the deaths.
- Officers found an adult man and an adult woman already dead when they arrived around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. They'd responded to a shooting report in the 1800 block of Twin Mills Road, off Dam Neck Road, in Virginia Beach.
- Police placed the shooting in an outdoor picnic area on the Amazon property, within the broader parking-lot location. The deaths happened outside the building.
- Exterior surveillance cameras captured footage that investigators reviewed. Police say that footage led them to believe the shooting was a murder-suicide. That's their preliminary assessment. They haven't publicly said who shot whom.
- One unnamed Amazon employee said workers inside the facility were placed on lockdown for more than an hour during the investigation. Police and Amazon haven't confirmed that account.
- Police say the two people knew each other and described them as at least acquaintances. They haven't released their names or confirmed whether either worked at the facility.
- Deputy Police Chief Jeff Wilkerson said, “We don't know all of the circumstances yet, but we're going to get to the bottom of it.” Investigators are still examining the relationship between the two people and what brought them there.
- Police haven't said what motivated the shooting. Investigators remained at the scene Sunday afternoon and into the evening, and the investigation is still active.
