Nineteen people were killed or hurt during Halloween celebrations. Police still have to explain how those casualties divide among the scenes and whether the shootings were connected.
  2. The shootings happened in Dallas's Deep Ellum entertainment district, a neighborhood of music venues, restaurants and nightlife. They unfolded overnight into Sunday, November first, during Halloween celebrations. Police identify three separate scenes within the neighborhood.
  3. The correction concerns the number injured across those three shootings. The death toll remains four. Dallas police put fifteen people in the injured category, separate from those who died. That gives a total of nineteen victims in the police accounting.

  6. Fifteen people survived with injuries in the police accounting at that stage. Four others died, bringing the total to nineteen victims. Those figures describe people's outcomes at that point, and the injured patients' conditions could still change.
  7. Police's casualty statement draws that separation explicitly. It counts everyone within one total, then divides them between deaths and injuries. The fifteen wounded therefore sit alongside the four people killed. Each person belongs within the nineteen-victim total.
  8. Police count nineteen victims, including four who died and fifteen who were injured. Their statement gives an overall toll across the shootings. It doesn't divide those injuries among Elm Street, Main Street and South Crowdus Street.
  9. Three people died at one location, and one died at another. At the third, at least six people were wounded and nobody died. That breakdown still needs to be matched fully to the streets, along with the rest of the fifteen injuries.
  10. Police place the Elm Street shooting at about twelve twenty a.m., Main Street at about one oh five, and South Crowdus at about one thirty-five. Those approximate local times put the three scenes across more than an hour.
  11. Our earlier description that all three happened within minutes was too compressed. Earlier call times differed slightly for Elm and Main. The bigger discrepancy involved the third scene. An early description placed a shooting on South Ervay Street at about three thirty a.m. Police's three-scene list identifies South Crowdus at about one thirty-five.
  12. Police haven't explained how that South Ervay call fits with the three shootings. Earlier descriptions also placed gunfire near Commerce and South Crowdus, while another placed it near Main and Pryor. Those street references can't yet support a complete scene-by-scene casualty count.
  13. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said investigators hadn't determined whether the shootings were related or what prompted them. Police described an apparent altercation at a convenience-store parking lot, where five people were shot. That description concerns the store shooting.
  14. The five people shot in that parking lot are part of the overall casualties. Their individual outcomes haven't been given. Earlier descriptions placed three deaths near Commerce and South Crowdus and one on Elm, but the police statement doesn't provide a complete street-by-street breakdown.
  15. Comeaux also confirmed arrests. At least one person was described as in custody in connection with the shooting where nobody died. Police were questioning people they had arrested while investigating their roles. The earlier reference to one person in custody shouldn't be taken as the full arrest count.
  16. The injury figure changes from five to fifteen in this correction. Police had described a changing count as wounded people reached hospitals, including people who got there themselves. Matching those hospital arrivals to the shooting scenes takes time.
  17. Police still haven't given a definitive arrest count or list of charges. They're also seeking additional shooters. A fuller police accounting needs to explain who is accused of what and connect each victim's outcome to a scene. Investigators haven't linked the three shootings, and police haven't said whether anyone suspected of firing is among the nineteen people killed or injured.
