  1. Floodwater swept a mother away after a family basketball outing.
  2. Two women have died during Storm Adam, and about 87,000 students face disrupted classes in the Valencian Community. Emergency crews are responding across Spain while more torrential rain threatens already saturated ground.
  3. The immediate test is whether easing warnings will bring safe journeys, or whether moving storms will produce fresh flooding.
  4. The southern Valencia coast and northern Alicante remain under red warnings early Monday. That means extraordinary danger. Their scheduled expiry is ten this morning. València city sits in a different zone, under orange until at least ten.
  5. A yellow warning is scheduled to follow the mainland red warning, but that change is still ahead. In Mallorca, the red-warning window ended at six this morning. It covered the interior, south and Llevant, with a threshold of 90 millimetres in one hour.
  6. Ibiza and Formentera moved from red to orange Sunday afternoon. School closures and emergency operations continue beyond those warning windows.
  7. The 35-year-old mother was walking with her husband and two children in Cabrera de Mar on Saturday evening. They'd attended a basketball game near the municipal sports pavilion. She fell into a flooded channel and was carried away.
  8. A torrential-rain warning had prompted a request for spectators to remain inside the pavilion. Some left, including the family, who were walking along a flooded street. Eighteen fire-service crews joined police and maritime rescuers in the search.
  9. Her body was found Sunday morning at Premià port, about six kilometres away. Cabrera de Mar declared a day of mourning. Elsewhere in Barcelona province, rescuers pulled two people from a car trapped by water in Sentmenat.
  10. The second woman entered the sea with another person at Corinto beach in Sagunto on Sunday. An orange warning covered rain and coastal conditions. Heavy surf hampered the search, and her body was recovered after ten that night.
  11. Both women have been found. The second recovery is described as near the last sighting, or at neighbouring Canet d’En Berenguer beach. The precise location remains unclear.
  12. Valencian emergencies chief Juan Carlos Valderrama put Barx's rainfall above 340 litres per square metre in 24 hours. He identified Marina Alta and La Safor as the principal trouble spots and warned that thunderstorms could return to heavily affected places.
  13. One litre per square metre equals one millimetre of rain. Pego received 85 millimetres in just 45 minutes Sunday afternoon, and Dénia also flooded. Those short bursts can rapidly overwhelm streets and channels, especially where earlier rain has already soaked the ground.
  14. Real de Gandía recorded 217.6 millimetres on Sunday. Rafelcofer measured 213.4, and Benirredrà 201.4. These are separate station measurements within La Safor. Barx's 24-hour figure and Pego's 45-minute burst cover different periods.
  15. Flood alerts also cover La Ribera and Marina Alta. Municipalities around Pego, Girona and Gorgos were told to activate flood plans and increase monitoring of channels. Marina Alta entered emergency situation one, with situation zero in La Safor and several neighbouring districts.
  16. About 87,000 students in the Valencian Community face cancelled or restricted classes Monday. The closures aim to keep families and staff away from dangerous journeys. Announcements cover dozens of municipalities, including Gandia, Oliva, Alzira, Algemesí and El Verger.
  17. The municipality count ranges from 42 to roughly 50, and the difference hasn't been resolved. The smaller count comprises 27 municipalities in Valencia province and 15 in Alicante. Universities have also announced restrictions.
  18. València is closing educational centres in flood-prone areas and districts affected by the DANA, including districts hit in 2024. Other city schools keep normal hours, but playground and outdoor activities are suspended while the orange warning lasts.
  19. The closures include centres in Castellar-Oliveral, Forn d’Alcedo, La Torre and Faitanar, alongside other flood-prone locations. Affected adult-learning, older-person and occupational centres also close.
  20. Five centres in El Saler and Pinedo remain open without teaching. They include Luis Santangel and El Saler schools, Pinedo's school and municipal nursery, and its adult-learning centre. Some afternoon activities could resume if the warning falls to yellow.
  21. València has also closed parks, the Turia Garden and cemeteries. Municipal outdoor sports and public-space events are suspended, and extraordinary street markets cannot operate. The Serranos and Quart towers, palaeontology museum and Devesa–Albufera forest house are closed.
  22. Road tunnels are due to close when the rain episode begins. Police are monitoring ravines and outlying districts, with emergency staffing reinforced. Three emergency accommodation centres are open at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Benimaclet and Carme, with extra support for people without shelter.
  23. Authorities also warned campers in the city hall square about risks to people and temporary structures. The encampment wasn't municipally authorised. Municipal restrictions are due to ease with a yellow warning, subject to continuing review.
  24. More than 1,000 incidents have been reported across Spain. The Valencian Community recorded 236 from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, mainly involving public spaces and roads. Its provincial breakdown differs by one incident, although the regional total stays the same.
  25. Those totals can't be rebuilt by adding every regional figure. Calls, incidents and responses measure different things over overlapping periods.
  26. Repeated mobile alerts tell residents to avoid unnecessary travel and never cross flooded areas, even when the water looks shallow. Stay away from rivers, ravines, channels and the seafront. If water rises, move upstairs or to higher ground, avoiding basements, garages and lifts. The emergency number is 112.
  27. Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera have closed schools and university campuses Monday. Day centres and occupational centres serving dependent and disabled people are also closed. Palma began preventive evacuations of flood-prone settlements and opened the Germans Escales sports centre for accommodation.
  28. The Balearic government says keeping children safe also means reducing traffic that could obstruct emergency crews. The closures interrupt care as well as education.
  29. The Military Emergency Unit mobilised Third Battalion units from Valencia to embark for Ibiza and Mallorca. Ibiza and Formentera entered operational situation two under the islands' flood plan. Outdoor sporting, social and cultural activities were suspended, and later mobile warnings also reached Mallorca.
  30. Formentera recorded 53 incidents, Ibiza 38 and Mallorca seven by late Sunday afternoon. The total rose from an earlier 87 to 98. None was described as serious then. Crews dealt with flooded premises, blocked roads and fallen trees.
  31. Formentera measured 97.4 millimetres in one hour Sunday morning, and 122.8 over a separate 24-hour period. Ibiza airport received 121.3 millimetres in 24 hours. A temporary lull gave crews a working window, while another rain front was expected.
  32. Ibiza airport stopped operations twice for slightly more than two hours altogether, with pumping needed to remove standing water. By seven Sunday evening, 27 flights had been cancelled and 16 diverted. The earlier five-cancellation count had been overtaken.
  33. Flooding also closed the airport access road, with alternative routes provided. Meanwhile, trains between Silla and Gandia, and between Xàtiva and València, were suspended Sunday evening until further notice.
  34. Barcelona–El Prat returned to normal operations Sunday morning after up to 45 cancellations. Catalonia's Rodalies trains also resumed Sunday. Catalonia nevertheless kept its civil-protection flood alert active, with 430 calls generating 337 rain-related incidents.
  35. Eastern Catalonia had widespread totals above 50 millimetres, with Ciuret recording 97.7 and parts of Vallès and Baix Llobregat approaching 100. Monday's high-intensity warning covers 14 counties, with local forecasts exceeding 40 millimetres in half an hour.
  36. Andalucía recorded 357 incidents since the rain began. Part of a health-centre ceiling collapsed in Málaga's El Palo district without reported injuries. Algeciras's port and streets flooded, and overflowing streams disrupted traffic on the AP-4 near El Cuervo.
  37. Motril suspended its half-marathon championship, which had about 2,500 registered runners. Almería received a preventive mobile alert. Murcia's emergency service handled 122 storm incidents, while southern Badajoz had yellow warnings for possible rain rates of 20 millimetres an hour.
  38. Sunday's orange warnings in parts of Andalucía had their own expiry times. The storm's reach doesn't put every province under the same warning.
  39. Spain's weather agency forecasts local totals of 300 to 400 millimetres across the episode, with isolated higher amounts possible. Its Sunday bulletin gives the heavy, persistent rain episode a high probability of 70 percent, while stressing uncertainty over the hardest-hit locations.
  40. Adam is a cut-off low high in the atmosphere, drawing in very moist easterly and northeasterly air. Persistent rain can suddenly swell streams and normally dry channels on saturated ground. Strong winds and rough Mediterranean seas add to the danger.
  41. Further locally torrential rain is forecast Monday morning around the southern Valencia coast, Cape La Nao, the Murcia and Almería coasts, and the Balearics. Later, persistent heavy showers are expected to extend toward northern Valencia and coastal Catalonia.
  42. Early Monday, the ten o'clock mainland warning change is still pending. Reopening the suspended rail routes and Ibiza's airport access road hasn't been announced. Forecast improvement leaves those journeys dependent on local conditions and reopening decisions.
  43. From Tuesday, instability is expected to diminish and become more concentrated in the far northeast and Balearics. Locally heavy or very heavy showers could still persist there, especially early in the day.
